Thoughts On Online Dating

The amount of Internet dating sites that have been created over the last decade is somewhat surprising and even a bit comical. FarmersOnly.com is one of the newest sites and I cannot help but laugh because it shows how selective men and women have become. Don't get me wrong, it is important to have a specific type of person in mind when looking for that certain someone. What gets me is that people in our society do not have time to sit around and get to know various types of people; the sea is full of fish, but no one wants to waste time swimming around to find their person.

With all the rush to find the perfect match, there is still room for caution. You can never be too careful about who you are actually talking to on Internet dating sites, whether it is on an App or on the web. Sure you fill out your preferences, which lead to matches and online interactions, but you do not truly know the person being masked by technology.

Here is some food for thought should you choose to join the online-dating trend:

1. Let's face it – you get excited when you get a match on any online dating site. It's normal.

2. Have some standards! Don't throw yourself at just anyone because they send you a message.

3. You can never be too cautious when talking to someone you truly don't know. If you do choose to meet up with someone, take a friend!

4. More often than not, the person on one side of the conversation will say something that makes you feel uncomfortable and leave you with no response. Why put yourself in an awkward situation?

5. Every once in a blue moon that perfect person comes around, but unfortunately they choose not to stick around. And you kind of want to cry a little bit.

Don't cry – there are plenty more fish in the sea and you will find your person.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
