I went out to see Get Out the new movie from Jordan Peele Sunday and I wanted to share my thoughts on the movie and give a review.

If you haven't see the trailer for the movie yet, which I don't understand how that’s possible, because it's been the most talked about to thing since inside out Oreos. But any way you'll find a trailer below and then you can back to reading my review.

Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) believes that he is going away with his girlfriend Rose (Allison Williams) for an innocent weekend getaway to meet her parents. But in reality, it's something much more horrific.

Chris has worries right of the bat because he's black and Rose is white. Rose assures him that it doesn't matter and her parents aren't racist. When he meets, them they seem nice enough but the dad seems like he’s trying too hard to be ‘the cool white guy,’ and trying to assure Chris that he isn’t racist. As the movie progresses Chris also meets two servants that work for Rose’s family, Walter and Gerorgina. They are also black and they act as though they’re in a zombie like state. This is something Chris notices immediately and brings it up to Rose and his best friend Rod who he calls several times through the movie to update him on the strange things he’s experiencing.

Without giving too much of the movie away Rose’s family as a “special” business that takes particular interest in both black men and women. During the movie, you’re at the edge of your seat excited to know what’s going to happen to Chris. Will he live? Will he die? Will he expose Rose’s family secret?

I’ve never had an interracial relationship but I’m completely open to the possibility of having one. And just like anyone in a same race relationship people dating someone of an opposite race have the same fears. It’s just heighten times 10 as they have to worry how they will be perceived not being the same race as the parents’ son or daughter.

Peele not only touches on this subject but there are also subtle things that you have to pay particular interest to in order to pick up on that touches on race and politics. I thought that Peele did a wonderful job and I’m excite to see more projects from him. Even though the trailer pretty much tells you what’s going on in the movie, we don’t know what Chris’ fate will be in the end. So, we begin rooting for him to make it out alive.

If you go see the movie let me know what you thought.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
