Battle at Bristol has been an exciting topic for both the Hokies and Vols since it was announced back in 2013. And for the past couple of weeks, its all Hokie fans could talk about. For the past few days, the cadets have been hyping the students up by running the "Battle Ball" all over campus. Similar to our homecoming tradition, where the game ball is run throughout campus during Homecoming Week, and students are supposed to touch the ball; the battle ball was run throughout campus and students were supposed to touch it to give our team good luck. The cadets were running the battle ball a total of 130 miles, because that is the distance from Blacksburg to Bristol. Fans were definitely excited, and were camping out the day before, leaving at crazy early times and staying up all night just to cheer on the Hokies. Excited to be a part of the largest football game in college history, the Hokies came ready to win. Unfortunately, Hokie hearts were broken last night after the Battle at Bristol ended with a final score of 45-24. Here are some thoughts that Hokie Fans had during the game, told by Parks and Rec.

1. When the team started running out:

2. When we scored the first touchdown of the game:

3. When we score the second touchdown of the game:

4. When we fumbled for the first time:

5. When we started to lose:

6. When Hokie Fans were praying for a miracle during the fourth quarter:

7. When we needed to score, but were quickly running out of time and options:

8. When the Hokies fumbled for the millionth time:

9. When the game was officially over, and the Hokies lost:

10. But when you remember there is still another game next weekend!!

It was a tough loss for the Hokies, and a tough game to watch from home, but overall a fun experience to be a part of. Hokies have their work cut out for them for the rest of the season, but as Leslie Knope would say, "I have goosebumps!" I love my Hokies and can not wait to beat the Boston College Eagles this weekend! Lets Go Hokies!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
