When you work retail, you know you are in for a real treat. Those long shifts, the unbearable customers and their attitude everywhere you look. Throughout one shift, I tend to have 10 million thoughts race through my mind. Here are just a select few:

Thoughts you have while working retail during a single shift:

1. Why does every minute feel like three hours?
2. What’s the point of folding clothes when customers will mess it up in five minutes?
3. I’m over folding clothes. (five minutes later)
4. I think way too much while doing this.
5. I am over people today.
6. I don’t feel like being nice to customers, even though I have to.
7. Customer: "Can you help me?" I mean, I don't want to but I have to.
8. I’m sorry ma’am we don’t have that size in the back. (We really don't)
9. Yes, I can check for you, but we still won't have it. *Pretends to check*
10. No ma’am that nice button down is not on sale, the sign clearly states the T-shirts are on sale.
11. No, the store is not 50 percent off, the sign also clearly states that select items are UPTO 50 percent off.
12. Ok, you can talk to my manager, they will tell you the same exact thing I told you.
13. Sorry ma’am, I did not make the signs.
14. You just told me you weren’t going to be that customer, but you’re being that customer.
15. Ok, so you’re telling me that you bought 15 items to the checkout and you’re only going to purchase one? Cool.
16. Sorry it’s not your day, It’s not mine either.
17. Chances are, I don’t know where that shirt is, the store is always switching things around.
18. Yes, I have to ask for your email, don’t get short with me.
19. I'm fighting every urge to NOT roll my eyes.
20. Can you take care of your kid? This isn’t a playground.
21. Can you not walk in five minutes before we close? Like don’t you have better things to do?
22. I just have two hours left--which is four 30 minutes and eight 15 minutes intervals.
23. I’m hungry and thirsty.
24. If it weren’t for my coworkers, I’d lose my mind.
25. However, some coworkers drive me insane as well.
26. I don’t know how much longer I can put up with this.
27. No, I will not give you the discount.
28. “Do you know if you’ll be getting any more of these in soon?” No. I don’t. Call the corporate store.
29. “Can you look these up for me?” No, I don’t have access to the Internet.
30. This is taking forever. Let me fold these tables.
31. Well that took up two minutes of my time.
32. Lady, did you just mess up my fold to get your size? Why didn’t you ask me?
33. Oh I like that, I may buy it for myself.
34. *Shops on the clock*
35. GO HOME EVERYONE!
36. Ok ma'am, there is no need to be rude.
37. I can't do this anymore.
38. I don't get paid enough for this.
