55 Thoughts During The Second Presidential Debate
The Wall Street Journal

1. Great now they're in matching outfits.

2. Ah. No handshake this time.

3. There was a coin toss to decide who went first? Okay I'm on board with that.

4. Oh boy, they have cordless mics.

5. Dude that's a great first question! The fact that this needs a Mature Audience warning is definitely something to talk about.

6. Ooh Hillary is making notes during Trump's response. Strategic or showing lack of interest?

7. How is our trade deals and law and order relevant to a question about modeling appropriate behavior for the youth?

8. Are we minimizing "locker room talk" by comparing it to people dying by the hand of ISIS?

9. I'm surprised nobody has been interrupted yet.

10. Okay yes but are we going to do more mudslinging each other, or can we talk about how you yourself are gonna be a good president?

11. And Donald Trump makes the first interruption of the night.

12. Okay yes, let's talk about the video..... Okay let's not do this by comparing yourself to Bill Clinton.

13. You know, Trump looks a little less tan today.

14. I need a fact checker!

15. Wow, that's a lot of effort. Special prosecutor and attorney general? This guy's determined to get down to the bottom of these lies.

16. And there's a Hillary Clinton interruption.

17. "Audience needs to calm down." The natives are getting restless, and we're only 24 minutes in.

18. Oh here we go, back to the emails.

19. Just saw a tweet from Ed O'Keefe that said, "It's as if we're all sitting in on the nastiest divorce proceeding you can think of." I just laughed out loud.

20. Is it 33,000 or 39,000 emails? I NEED A FACT CHECKER.

21. Still lots of interruptions. Let's have a lesson on manners, shall we? And that's directed to both candidates.

22. The moderator is getting sassy with Trump.

23. Okay that's a good question. The Affordable Care Act does need to be talked about, especially since both candidates have very different ways of addressing it.

24. Okay so if we're going to replace Obamacare, what are we replacing it with? How will we reinsure those 20 million people who got health insurance because of Obamacare?

25. I'm not sure either candidate understands the 2-minutes speaking limit.

26. It only took 36 minutes for me to pour a glass of wine during this debate.

27. Our 2 options for solving this country's islamophobia by saying the name "radical Islamic terrorist" or by making Muslims feel included and defeating ISIS.

28. So is Trump in favor of a Muslim ban, or this "extreme vetting" thing?

29. Is it acceptable for a politician to be two-faced? OOH GIRL. That's been a question we've all had our entire lives.

30. Okay Hillary, how did we get on Russia again?

31. Here comes the WikiLeaks reference. *marks that off on my bingo card.

32. Okay so Trump is bringing up his taxes himself. Bold.

33. Okay taxes. I like this, we're actually going into each candidate's plans for lowering taxes, with a little less mudslinging. Just a little.

34. Trump understands the tax cut better than anyone else who has ever run for office? That's bold.

35. Ah yes, now I can cross "Aleppo" off of my bingo card.

36. Okay if the question is about Syria and Aleppo, why are we talking about standing up to Russia? Do I need to do some preliminary reading before debates, or is this getting off topic?

37. When the moderator repeats the question so you can try again, because the first answer was so hard for us to follow.

38. Whoa, the cameraman needs to chill on the zoom button. We didn't need to see Hillary's pores like that.

39. Whether I agree with it or not, moderator Martha is definitely inserting herself into this debate by asking more directed questions to each candidate.

40. I want more audience questions. Y'all in St. Louis have better questions than the moderators do half the time.

41. I like that question, Mr. Carter. So fundamental yet essential (Will you be a devoted president to the people of this country?).

42. Here we go with the "deplorable" comment. This is important that a candidate still supports all Americans instead of degrading those who support her opponent.

43. I still didn't hear a blunt apology to the Americans that she called deplorable... I would have liked to have heard that.

44. I think "inner cities" should be on my bingo card.

45. And now we're bringing in Benghazi. This should be discussed, but why are we talking about 3 a.m.? This is not what we need to discuss regarding Benghazi.

46. This just in: Trump is not un-proud of tweeting.

47. Yay more audience questions! Ms. Miller with that much needed Supreme Court justice question!

48. Wow, both candidates actually answered that Supreme Court justice question fully.. okay until we went into campaign contributions.

49. Yes, Mr. Bone! Environmental issues need to be discussed tonight!

50. Clean coal? I'm interested, but I'd like a fact check/research.

51. Ooh new idea: have the candidates cite their claims and facts like I have to do in my college essays. MLA, APA, Chicago, whatever you'd like.

52. Okay Mr. Becker, bring us home.

53. NAME ONE POSITIVE THING ABOUT YOUR OPPONENT?! I JUST SCREAMED IN MY SEAT.

54. This small, shining light of mutual respect was my favorite part of this whole debate.

55. And we close out with a handshake! Way to bring it in on a nicer note.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
