A few weeks ago I wrote down 100 thoughts I have during Pure Barre (or Püre Bar, for those who kept asking). Recently, the workout that I love got a partner in crime: Pure Empower.
What is Pure Empower, you ask? It’s 45 minutes of fast-moving, cardio filled, strength training with a barre and a 6-inch platform. It is regular Pure Barre on steroids AND red bull… and I love it.
Now that I’ve subjected myself to about five of these new classes I felt it was only appropriate that I follow my previous post with 100 thoughts I have during Pure Empower
- I am too tired for this.
- I should have taken pre-workout.
- No, last time I drank pre-workout on an empty stomach I almost passed out during this class, let’s not.
- Sticky socks, ON.
- And, they’re Christmas themed!
- I am so jealous of everyone who just finished their class.
- Whatever, they did normal barre; I’m doing empower (internal hair flip).
- I feel like I’m part of a club now of women that do empower.
- Is empower the secret that all of these teachers have kept? Is that why they look so good?
- Maybe they’ve been doing this for months.
- Awe I don’t need a ball or double tube.
- This is so different.
- Are these weights supposed to wrap around my wrists?
- Okay, how is everyone putting these on themselves?
- Maybe if I hold one side of the velcro in one hand…
- There, got it!
- Oh, shoot, here we go.
- Alright, ladies let’s get empowered!
- Okay, that was a bit much.
- We get to start with stretching! I’m on board for this.
- I need to stretch more often.
- Okay, side lunges I can do this.
- Dang, how heavy are these wrist weights??
- You want me to bring my back foot to tap, how exactly?
- Oh, like that, I see.
- Okay, my butt is already on fire this is not a good sign.
- And I thought the warm-up in regular barre was bad.
- An ab section at the beginning of class, this should be interesting.
- I should have brought a water bottle.
- Okay, I’m surviving so far.
- Now, let’s get ready for our first strength section!
- Excuse me, I’ve been using my strength this whole time thank you.
- So. Many. Lunges.
- And squats.
- My arms are actually going to fall off.
- For real, HOW HEAVY ARE THESE WEIGHTS??
- Final 10, strongest you’ve got!
- I’ve got this!!!
- 8…9… and 10!
- Yes! Let’s lose these weights.
- Now let’s move into a cardio section
- You’re trying to tell me that wasn’t cardio?
- I’m literally dying over here and dripping in sweat; but, okay.
- Holy moly these are fast squats.
- Left hand where? Right hand…? I feel like I’m playing Twister.
- Look at me doing spiderman push-ups!
- I’m so strong
- (Pats self on back)
- You have the option to speed this up here!
- Is that a joke?
- How is that girl keeping up with all this??
- I’m thoroughly impressed.
- Ahh stretch…
- Strength again!?
- We’re doing strength for seat now? Goodness gracious.
- Ugh, I have to put the weights back on?
- On my ankles this time?
- Left foot on the platform, right foot on the ground, right arm on the barre, left arm…
- (Turns around)
- Okay, wait, what?
- (Tries to copy teacher)
- No, that can’t be right…
- There we go! Got it!
- My goodness, I’m so tired
- Why do we have to keep moving so fast??
- My muscles are not used to this.
- This is actually so fun though.
- Music makes everything better.
- Last cardio section!
- Yes!! I’ve almost made it!
- There is nothing better than feeling strong
- Bring your knees to your chest, speed this up if you want!
- Heck yes, I will speed this up!
- I’ve. Got. This.

- Okay, here we go

- How does putting my feet on the platform make this so much harder!?
- Still my favorite part of class though.
- And, let’s stretch it out.

- I feel so great.
- And now I get to walk out being the one who did just finish class!
- Eyes off the retail, no ma’am.
- Now I know why they call it Pure Empower.
