We all have concerns about the future. While in college, we are constantly talking and thinking about how our lives will turn out in the upcoming years. College. Jobs. Money. Family. Where we will be two years from now, five years from now and 10 years from now? Well, it does not matter right now.
The problem is that we just need to slow down and stop worrying. We get so caught up in how our life is going to be years ahead that it causes unnecessary stress, anxiety and frustration. It’s inevitable to think about where we will be in the years after college, considering that’s why we are in college in the first place, but everyone needs to let our lives play out.
Stop living for the future and live for the now.
So many of us live our lives to better ourselves in the future, but that leaves us to not live the present times in the best way we can. Spend time with your friends and family because in the future you may not get as much time do that. Figure yourself out during your college years rather than figuring out who you will be years from now. That is what you are supposed to do in the future.
Take a second to appreciate what you already have.
By the time we are in college, there is already so much that we have done to get to where we are now. Be thankful for the times and people that have brought you to where you are today. Thank the people that have helped you along the way. Be happy with what you already have, because that is already more than what some others have.
Be proud of what you have already done.
No matter what accomplishments or events that you have already been through, be proud of them. Celebrate the good things that happen to the ones you care about and they will always be by your side when you want to share your good news with them. There is never a bad time to celebrate something exciting that happens. Be thankful for everything that emerges, celebrate the little things that happen and appreciate all that comes your way.
Don’t stop working hard.
The thing that will make you successful in the future is to work hard now. Try for your best grades in each class and strive to get the internship you want this upcoming summer. Making connections with the people that matter the most will lead to a better life down the road, as well. If you don’t work hard then you surely won’t get the future that you want. Nothing in life comes easy, and don’t expect it to happen that way.
Everything happens for a reason.
The biggest thing that I believe in is that everything happens for a reason. If something is meant to be, then it will be. Be patient, enjoy your life now and make the most of each day that comes. If we are enjoying the present and at peace with that, then the future will happen. One day you will realize everything you have once wanted has become a reality. All in all, what is meant to be is meant to be.
