We are the generation that everyone talks about. The millennial generation. We are creating, inspiring, learning, and teaching our way through life. Most of our discussions stem back to the idea of love, and if being a millennial hurts our chances of finding it. Are we too fast paced? Distracted? What is it about being a 20 something that makes this so difficult to understand? I asked 18 men and women, and being true millennials, this is what love is to them.

"I feel like it’s picturing your future and always seeing that person next to you. You’re physically unable to to imagine a life without that person.”
Megan, 22
“Love is when your significant other not only brings out the best and happiest parts of you, but also helps you learn to accept the things you used to not like about yourself, and you do the same for them.”
Leah, 21
“Love is when someone holds your face when they kiss you. And when they scratch your head even when your hair is greasy.”
Emily, 21
“Love is giving that person the last bite of your dessert when, of course, you want to eat it. And it’s accepting their morning breath and kissing them anyway.”
Jenny, 24
“Love is being with the one who makes you want to be the best version of yourself.”
Ari, 25
“Love is a lot of things, but most of all it’s indescribable. Love is like seeing the past, present and future all at the same time. It’s like jumping off a cliff with your best friend unable to see the bottom, but knowing that you’ll both land safely in a pool of water."
Liz, 21
“To me, love is when you can sit with someone in complete silence and you still feel comfortable and connected with them, even if both of you are silent, you’re still communicating together.”
Jenna, 21
“At such a young age, I hope that I haven’t found a definition of love yet. I hope that throughout my life I find all different kinds of love. I hope I learn to love in new ways and I hope that when I do find a forever love, I hope it’s constantly changing. I think that love is the most powerful religion in the world…because honest and real love can move mountain and truly change a person.”
Julian, 22
“Love is learning how to let go even when you don’t want to.”
Jalen, 21
“The best way for me to describe it is...true love is simply a complete understanding for a person and only wanting them to be happy, while they wish the same for you. It’s a connection that may sometimes drive a person mad in a sense, but also can make people do the impossible. In short, love is a feeling; it’s an energy that allows people to connect on the deepest level and produce the best from an individual."
Molly, 21
“Love is still dancing with me even though I step on your feet. Love is being able to make me laugh when I’m in the worst mood. And love is being able to picture our whole life together, form our first apartment, to raising kids, to the nursing home we'll be in together when we're old and gray, and not wanting anything else, with anyone else…..Oh and ALWAYS sharing your french fries, even though I already had my own.”
Marisa, 21
“Love is loving someone on their good days, but loving them even more on their bad days.”
Andrew, 21
“Love is about committing to someone in the sense that you want to not only support them, but help them work towards being a better person and lover.”
Laura, 23
“Love is sitting with each other in complete silence, knowing you can say anything or nothing, and both being perfectly fine."
Brenna, 21
“Love is pouring yourself into someone even when you’re not sure if they are going to do the same.”
Robbie, 24
“Love is knowing all along you can do it all by yourself, but having the courage to bring someone along for the ride.”
Elizabeth, 22
“For me, love is someone who is your best friend. They support you, love you, and care for you no matter what the situation. Love is unconditional and never ending despite the difficulties we go through in life."
Paige, 21
"Love fuels the drive in people to think and feel beyond themselves. Love is reasonless, yet brings very clear reason to life. Without love, actions are senseless and hearts are never broken. It is not always apparent that love is around us, but the actions and words evoked by the compassion or forgiveness in other, speak to the enormity the "L" word holds."
