There's something so beautiful about life. It starts under tears of joy, and it will fade out while surrounded by tears of heartbreak. While every day we experience in between, is a gift. And that life is quite scary. When asked what feared them the most, my interviewees responded with statements such as:
"Being less than amazing."
"Fading into the background."
"Making decisions that could affect me for my entire life."
"Owing people something."
Our generation, as well as those before and after, lives in a day that is full of worry, stress, and fear. We do not need a rule book or “how-to” manual to be able to approach life with a calm spirit. What we do need is voice of reason in a world full of noise.
1. The Scarier Life Is To You, The Better.
If your dreams do not absolutely terrify you, then you aren't giving credit to your full potential. Fear is one of the biggest motivators we create within ourselves. Whether it be fear of failure, fear of inadequacy, or countless others, it will push you harder than any outside source ever could. Channel that fear into something that challenges you for the better.
2. Just Because You Are Not Where You Want To Be, Does Not Mean You Never Will Be.
If you are not in love with your own life, there is no reason to settle. Those around you are too comfortable with settling, and not familiar enough with bravery. Never settle where you are, but fight for where you want to be.
3. There Are Too Many Fish In The Sea To Miss One.
You should never slam the breaks for a roadblock that doesn't pose a threat. That only puts you in harm's way. If someone walks out of your life, it will only hurt you more to chase after them. Plus, that jog after someone running in the opposite direction will exhaust you, before you get the chance to head towards your ultimate goals.
4. People Don’t Notice or Care About Your Weight As Much As You Think They Do.
Your life is not over, because of those extra 5 pounds you're still carrying around from freshman year. You are still stunning and should always tell yourself so.
5. One, Two, or Three Mistakes Will Not Promise Failure.
If it takes 100 tries to succeed once, you're still one step ahead of where you started from.
6. Your Bank Account Does Not Reflect Your Success.
You will never be expected to show your bank statement at your next outing. Those genuinely close to you could care less about a number preceded by a squiggly line with bars through it. There is nothing wrong with longing for money, as long as you understand that the value of your savings account does not display your value.
7. You Deserve More Praise Than You’re given.
...But, only you need to know this. You are better than others reassurance.
8. Being a people pleaser is not a bad thing.
I'm not sure when exactly the character trait of "wanting others to be happy, caring about others, and willing to do things on others behalf" - became a negative thing. Where the SOLE problem lies is when you can not please yourself in the process. Live for others, and they will live for you.
9. Find an outlet, and never neglect it.
Dance, write, sing, exercise, paint...
Find your niche that helps you escape from absolutely anything that creates a negative voice inside of you. Allowing yourself that channel to release any built up stress or pessimistic emotions can change your entire day. When you find what it is that keeps you sane, never neglect it. On the good days and the bad, you have something to call "My Thing." (Like a "person", but with no chance of failure.)
10. Always live life knowing that you are enough.
At the end of the day, the only person you have to impress is you. Live life everyday with passion, determination, and intention - and you will never fall short. You are never less than absolutely incredible.
Never forget that your right now is not your forever, unless you let it be.
