The semester has come to an end and it's time to say your final goodbyes before you and your friends are all home free for the next month. There's no more work to be done and no more parties to attend because your semester is officially OVER.
Congratulations! You've officially made it through another semester of some of the hardest but best years of your life. Although the idea of having a month with zero 8 a.m.s and zero homework obligations sounds endearing right now, you'll be surprised as to what you find yourself missing once break finally begins.
1. Having work to do.
Yes, you read that right. No, I'm not kidding. After the initial thrill wears off from being liberated of all your previous school work, I guarantee after a week or two you're going to be longing for something, ANYTHING, to be working on.
Being home can be painfully boring at times and a little homework here and there might even help pass the time and keep your brain sharp on some of those long effortless days.
2. Your room (including your bed).
As we all know most on-campus living can be cramped. Despite the fact that we're now all legal adults at this point we are still forced to reside in these shoebox-esque rooms, and sleep in twin sized beds that some of us taller folks can barely stretch out on.
While we all love our rooms at home (especially our beds) you'll definitely find yourself longing for your room back at school at some point. Even if it means living in a shoebox, at least, you'll be back where you know you belong.
3. Walking places.
If you're anything like me, and you basically live in the countryside, you know that you have to drive absolutely everywhere at home (and spend all your hard earned money on gas). It can get incredibly annoying having to drive absolutely everywhere, and at one point or another, you'll find yourself missing those, a maximum of fifteen minutes, walks across campus. Not to mention walking from class to class on a daily basis is a great form of exercise which is something that can be hard to achieve when you're being a couch potato at home.
4. Having a schedule.
When you're home you pretty much sleep however late you want, eat whatever, whenever you want, and you have all the time in the world to do nothing. Sounds awesome right? Maybe for now, but eventually, you're gonna find yourself wishing you actually had somewhere to be or something productive to do. You can only watch Netflix for so long before there's nothing left to watch...and I mean nothing (because you watched it all).
While it's always great to come home for the holidays and see your families and friends, it can get kind of boring. That doesn't mean you don't love your hometown, it just means that you also love your new home (insert designated university here). But rest assured, time flies and you'll be back before you know it.
