Arthur L Johnson is a high school located in a small town known as Clark New Jersey. Like most high schools there are many things that the students will always remember even if it's the smallest thing like dress code or the sound of the bell! Here are a few things students at ALJ know to well!
1. Dress Code.
Dress code at ALJ never made sense at least when I went there. Girls were sent to the office if they had shorts that were 'to short' however some girls were able to get away with it. No flip flops, nothing to short, and the lovely shoulder rule where no one was allowed to wear anything the exposed their shoulders. Does not make sense to me to this day!
2.Let's Go Johnson!
Games, pep rally's, walking through the hallway. Whatever the students were doing Johnson pride was always there. At least until they graduated.
3.Attendance
No matter who you were attendance was the most important thing to the school. If you are absent more then eighteen or so days no graduation, even if you were the smartest person in the school. No excuses.
4. Mrs Jacobi's Animals
Enough said.
5. Friend Groups
ALJ had the most stereotypical friend groups. The athletes, the popular, the nerds, the geeks, the emos, so on and so fourth but by the end of senior year it was like we all came together.
6. Senior Side Of The Cafeteria
The underclassmen sat together and the seniors were separated in the senior section! Sitting in the senior section and getting to leave lunch early were a few perks of being a senior!
7.Diversity?
There was no diversity in ALJ let's be honest...
8.Waiting for the end of the day.
Waiting for the end of the day is the worst. Especially since you have to go through the end of the day announcements for five minutes until you can leave!
9. Teachers.
Some of the teachers at ALJ change the lives of the students, while some students really question why and how that teacher still has there job? Doing Yoga in the middle of the library? The world may never know. However the school wouldn't be the same without these diverse teachers!
10. After graduation we are all friends.
Even if you hated the person you will always find yourself greeting them if you see them in the real world after you graduate.
