Dating is hard.
From defining what you guys are to setting rules on whether it's okay if to hang out with the opposite sex alone or like "this is supposed to show the workout but only shows her butt" Instagram post, there's a lot that goes into dating.
But things get a little more tricky with online dating. Apps such as Tinder, OKCupid, and Bumble are intended to making dating easier, but users have some hilarious and heartbreaking stories to tell. If you ever took part in online dating and let's be honest, you had your fair share of "just 5 more I swear" swipes, you likely noticed these 5 things wrong with online dating.
1. Hookup Culture Prevails
If you're looking for a "real relationship" online you're pretty much out of luck on dating apps. Sure there are people who are looking for long term together since dinosaur days type love, but some people are willing to make a whole dating profile only to find people who are down to Netflix and chill.
2. It's Superficial
We all do it. We swipe right for the hottest girls or guys and send messages to people only because they're attractive. The fact that they read all the Harry Potter books or donate to charity is as pointless as counting calories on holidays.
3. Love At First Site
Online dating doesn't give you the opportunity to notice the little things about people that you like or wouldn't like as you only can go off their pictures. Also it kind of ruins the spontaneity of love. The we met at Trader Joe's fighting over the last "Apple Pie Cheddar Cheese" is lost.
4. Art Thou Lying?
Catfish isn't just a show. People lie online about who they are which is pretty obvious with the one picture of the super fit guy, but more times than not it's about their personality. How they seem online is way different from how they act in person.
5. People Ghost You
This is possibly the worst of the 5 things wrong with online dating. Things seem to be going well then bam, from nonstop texting to left on read. A millennial love story.
