Growing up being the only child meant that I played with Barbie and Polly Pocket. It also meant that pink was my favorite color and that boys had cooties. Video games were never my thing. I was never exposed to them nor was I ever around anyone that would sit and play them for hours at a time. That is, until I got a boyfriend...
So ladies, is it just me or do you find yourself bored out of your mind when you have to sit there with nothing to do when bae has his eyes glued to "Halo" and "Call of Duty"? Well, with a lot of experience and dedication, I have found solutions to solve this problem.
1. Catch up on Netflix
Let's face it, you like watching "Grey's Anatomy" and "Gossip Girl," but he likes "American Dad" and "30 for 30." So, since he will be 100 percent focused on his screen, you should focus on catching up on the TV series you know he will never want to watch with you. It is a win-win for both of you.
2. Make weekend plans
Why not take a weekend to do something new and fun. You both have been dying to see that new horror movie that came out and have been wanting to try that new restaurant that just opened up in town. So go do it! Make those reservations and pick out a movie time. Also, don't forget to stop at the dollar store before the movie to sneak in endless amounts of candy.
3. Learn how to cook
My boyfriend and I don't know how to cook anything other than the basics. So with all my boredom, I decided why not look at delicious dinners on Pinterest that I will never be able to make. Recently, I stepped up and decided to make us dinners from Pinterest pretty much every night. Therefore, I would like to thank Pinterest for making me the new Betty Crocker. So not only will this lead to a new hobby, it will also lead you to becoming wifey material.
4. Online shopping
We all know that a little retail therapy has never hurt anyone. So go ahead and treat yourself. You deserve to get that new eye shadow palette that you've been wanting. Even online window shopping can kill more time than you think. Purchasing a new item can be a reward for sitting through those irksome video games.
5. Play a game with him
When all else fails, grab a controller and join in. This is a good example of the saying don't judge a book by its cover. From a girl's point of view, it looks like you just sit there and kill alien after alien. If the first four things on this list start to get boring and you get bored of being bored, then I suggest you do a two player campaign and think of it as bonding. It's a win for both of you; he will love it and you will get some extra brownie points.
