Things To Thank Your Roommate For

Living with people is hard. It doesn’t matter if it’s your best friend or a rando; sharing a living space with someone is not always a walk in the park. You might bicker over the small things like who’s turn it is to clean the bathroom or what to watch on Monday nights (The Bachelor obviously) and get over it easily. Or, you might fight over big things that might force one of you to move or even worse: ruin your friendship beyond repair. They can’t just leave at the end of the night and go home: you’re stuck with them. Because of this, they have seen you at your best and they’ve seen you at your worst. So here is a list of the many things you need to thank your roommates for.

Thank you for listening to me vent about boys, school and any little inconvenience in my life. I know you don’t really care that I got cut off in traffic three times today, but thanks for pretending like you’re listening.

Thank you for ignoring my messy room and not judging me when I walk out with a pile of dishes with old food still on it when I finally do decide to clean it.

Thank you for doing said dishes when I forget them in the sink.

Thank you for not hating me for forgetting said dishes in the sink.

Thank you for folding my laundry that has been in the drier for a week and only complaining about it a little.

Thank you for getting me out of bed when I sleep through my alarm for an hour.

Thank you for going on Target runs with me when I’m stressed and just need some retail therapy.

Thank you for not letting me spend hundreds of dollars every time we go on these Target runs.

Thank you for just the little things you do. Like bringing me home a Diet Coke or coffee; leaving the last fruit snacks in the box for me; or just texting me when I’m having a bad day. I hope you know that the little things mean the world to me; just knowing that you care.

Thank you for driving me to class when I’m too lazy to walk.

Thank you for picking me up when I can’t get up myself. For listening to me cry over nothing, giving me pep talks and always being there for me when I need someone to just talk to.

Thank you for knowing when to give me tough love and telling me to get over it and move on.

Thank you for getting excited over the same little things as me. Like when we have a full tray of ice in the freezer or when we return our rental movies on time.

Thank you for always being real with me: telling me when my jokes aren’t funny, my outfit doesn’t match or my eyebrows aren’t on fleek. I’d much rather hear it from you than anyone else.

Thank you for the lazy movie days and thank you for the crazy nights out. For the inside jokes, the stories and the memories.

Thank you for telling me what happens in the scary movie when I’m too scared to watch. Or hiding with me when it’s too scary.

Thank you for sharing your food with me (voluntarily or involuntarily).

Thank you for feeding my cat when I forget to (he probably would have died of starvation by now without you).

Thank you for not only not questioning the random items that somehow appear in our apartment, but also adding to the collection. Our walls and shelves would be bare otherwise.

Thank you for driving all the way back to the apartment when I forgot my keys and got locked out. #LifeSaver

Thank you for the moral support during awkward conversations or when I need help texting boys.

Thank you for understanding I’m kind of crazy and loving me anyways.

Thank you for standing up for me and for offering to seriously harm anyone who tries to mess with me. I know you won’t actually key the car of the boy who made me cry but it’s still good to hear.

Thank you for putting up with me when I cry about boys. I know I do it far too often and that I’m really annoying about it but I appreciate you nodding along and repeating “seriously?” “That’s ridiculous” and “he’s not worth it” until I tire myself out.

But most importantly, thank you for being the best roommate I could ever ask for!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
