This semester has flown by, as it is already November. There is so much to do in the Tampa area and such little time left to do everything before the holidays. Take the time you have left and put it to good use as you can attend these amazing events, concerts and fall centered places. Here is a list of things to do in Tampa this month.

1. Discover local art.

This fall, there are some great opportunities to walk around and see murals in St. Pete and art shows around Tampa Bay.

2. Attend Conga Caliente.

This festival is awesome and celebrates Hispanic arts and culture on November 6.

3. Go to the Farmer's Market.

Fall is a great time to head on down to the Tampa Bay Farmer's Market. They have pumpkins, plants, corn and great buys.

4. Support our local sports teams.

The Buccaneers and the Lightning are in town this month, and make sure to check out the Lightning's Student Rush option.

5. Visit the Ybor City Cigar Festival.


This event is for everyone, not just cigar smokers. This festival features many food trucks, special guests and the rich history surrounding cigar making in Ybor City on November 19.

6. Go to one of the many concerts.

Stevie Nicks, DJ Snake, Tracy Morgan, Nervo, Carrie Underwood and so many more artists and comedians are coming to the area. Don't forget to check out the USF Fall Dance Concert from November 16 to the 20 on campus as well.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register.
