6 Ways Not To Waste The Last Weeks Of Summer On Your Couch

Get up and do something!

6 Ways Not To Waste The Last Weeks Of Summer On Your Couch
Jessica Miller

This week starts the month of August, the month that excites parents and college students and brings tears to children all over. Summer is coming to an end, and if you're anything like me, you've done a whole lot of nothing this summer. I've binge watched every Netflix series for days at a time, worked my life away and slept the rest of the time I had left. So, with a little time left in the summer days, here are some fun things you can do before you head back to school.

1. Ride some roller coasters at Kings Island or Cedar Point.

Ride the new ride Banshee at Kings Island or spend the day at Soak City riding their new water slide.

2. Take the weekend off and go on a road trip.

Take the weekend off and hit the road with some friends. Try fun-filled destinations like soaking up some sun at the beach or shopping in Gatlinburg.

3. Go camping/hiking/ or ca(brew)noeing.

Cabrewing is a college kids summer dream. You can't get much better than canoeing with friends and drinking a few beers at the same time.

4. Go to the beach without having to drive or fly there.

The Beach Waterpark has the sand, water and waves without the long drive.

5. It's fair season, so eat all the fried foods and cotton candy you can at the county or state fair.

It's always fun to people watch at the fair, but the food is even better.

6. See a concert with friends.

Summer concerts are always a blast. There are plenty of awesome concerts at Riverbend. Grab a ticket and friends and enjoy your favorite band.

Don't spend your last few weeks of summer vacation on the couch or at work; get up and give yourself a break. You only have summer for so long, so make sure it's one to remember. Grab some friends and make the best of it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
