Spring break. The time when everyone is gossiping about the exotic beach they are going to, or the huge spring break trip they are going on with their best friends during which they party all day and night. Everyone is getting ready, and when people ask you what your plans are, you simply tell them you're just going home. They respond with "Oh, well that will still be nice!" but you know on the inside they are simply just feeling sorry for you. Here are some things that you can do over break to prove that you don't have to be on a beach in order to have a great break:
1. Hang out with some old friends.
Spring break is always a time when none of my friends have the same break as me. Our breaks are spread out weeks apart, so it is sometimes hard to see everyone. However, find time to catch up with the friends that do have your same break. It will be nice to simply sit down for coffee or lunch, and catch up on life.
2. Hang out with your parents.
I love going home and hanging out with my parents. I miss them when I am away and when I go home it is fun to catch up with them, frankly by going to eat at all my favorite restaurants. They miss you a lot when you are gone and they want to hear about your college life, trust me.
3. Watch Netflix.
Catching up on all your favorite TV shows and movies is always a great time. Plus, you can do it while not feeling guilty that you are swapping that chemistry lab for watching yet another episode of "Gossip Girl".
4. Go on a road trip.
Go out and explore! You have been away from home for awhile, and I'm sure there are activities that you have missed out on while you were away. Drive to a park or go to a nature preserve; road trips are always a good idea.
5. Make some money.
Work, work, work, work, work. You are going to want to make money especially with spring and summer coming soon. Plus, contacting your employers will make them realize that you actually care about your job and want to keep it.
6. Shop for spring clothes.
Making money just means that you can have more to spend on all those cute spring and summer clothes that are coming out. Not to mention all the cool new swim suits! Buying new clothes will make you even more excited for summer.
7. Cook some good food.
I think everyone can agree that by around this time of year, you are absolutely sick of dining hall food. One of the main reasons I am excited to go home is so that I can have a kitchen and will be able to cook for myself.
8. Relax!
The main reason for break is so that you can kick back and relax. I know sometimes it may get boring, but think about how much you are going to have to do after you get back. The stretch between spring break and summer is jam packed with school work and tons of activities that are going on around campus as the weather starts to get warmer. So sit back and rejuvenate before you head back to finish off the year strong!
