Since the new spring semester has begun, there is already a whole new set of stresses and worries that come along with new classes and new schedules.

It's hard to get back into the swing of school. While life can get busy and stressful, it's important to take a step back and take some time for yourself everyday or do something special for yourself every week.

Taking time for yourself will make you happier, healthier and less stressed.

1. Pamper yourself every day.

Treat yourself to something that makes you happy every day. Put on a fabulous facial and watch an episode of your favorite show. Treat yourself to a new online purchase. Drink a cup of tea and read a new book. The options are endless.

2. Take time for yourself.

It's OK to just lay down for a little bit every day or take a power nap. Nothing is better than coming back from a day of classes and laying down for a while before starting your mountain of work. It's OK to take a minute — you need it and you deserve it.

3. Do something good for others every day.

Hold the door for people, say hi to everyone and talk to them, say please and thank you. Doing something good for someone every day will make you feel good. Give back and good will come to you in your own life.

4. Try to exercise every once in a while.

Even though you may not be a fan of exercise like myself — the treadmill is not my friend — find a type of you activity that you enjoy like spin with your friends or running on the elliptical. I love to go to the gym with my friends every once in a while. You will feel so fab and fit after, I promise.

5. Make lists or have a calendar.

There's nothing better than feeling organized and trust me, there is no better feeling in the whole world than writing out everything that you have to do and crossing it off. Also, color code everything because you will feel like you can rule the world.

6. Listen to music every day.

Nothing's better than getting that daily dose of music. Listen to your favorite songs and make lots of playlists. Listen to music in your room or have music in the shower; it's good to let your mind zone out and relax.

7. Value your happiness.

Don't let the little things in life get you down. Enjoy every day and find something throughout the day that makes you happy. Don't dwell on failure, but focus on the things that make you happy.

8. Call your family and friends.

Talk to your family and friends every day. A quick text can brighten your day and make you laugh.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
