The world right now is sadly a place that is full of hate from all around. But despite that, there is always a reason to be happy no matter how big or small that reason may be. This is just a short list, but I hope it reminds you of even the littlest things that make you happy more than you might think.

1. Good Music

Putting together a playlist that takes you to your happy place can help you relax and forget about things anywhere from a couple of minutes to hours on end. If the weather is nice then go on a drive, roll the windows down, and be free for a little bit.

2. Hugs

Sure, we're still in the middle of a pandemic and there are people that aren't huge fans of hugs, but sometimes a hug from the right person and can give you all the warmth that you've been needing.

3. Iced Coffee

Splurge a little and go get that venti iced coffee you've been wanting from Starbucks. You deserve it more than ever right now.

4. Cozy Sweaters

One of the best parts about quarantine was getting to wear a sweater all the time despite the weather getting warmer outside. Anytime I'm inside all day, I always take the opportunity to stay cozy in a warm sweater because... why not?

5. Candles

C'mon now, I know you have a collection of candles hidden somewhere in your room or house. Bust out your favorite one, light it, and dim the lights. Or even better, go get a brand new one!

6. Friendships

We all get a little mushy sometimes and think about how lucky we are to have the friends that we do. Call them up, hang out together, have a night in or a night out. How can you be upset when you're surrounded by some of your favorite people in the world?

7. Dancing

We all dance a little, whether we admit it to others or not. Whether you're getting ready or you're just home alone, dancing while your favorite songs are blasting causes an instant boost in serotonin.

8. Finding a new series on Netflix

Six seasons? All the episodes are an hour long? Buckle in because it doesn't get much better than this.

9. Your favorite food

Go to the grocery store and get those ingredients and cook away. The time and effort will be so worth it once you take that first bite of one of your most favorite foods.

10. Painting

No matter what you're painting, this activity is so soothing and relaxing. And if you don't want to paint, color! Same concept and just as relaxing.

11. Sunrises and Sunsets

Arguably the most beautiful things about this planet. God really works His wonders and makes it hard to be upset when the sky is pink and purple.

12. Baking

I find baking and decorating cakes or cupcakes or cookies to be so relaxing and enjoyable and the best part about this relaxing task is that you get to eat the results!

13. Spending time at the lake

It's summer time! Grab a group of friends and head to the closest body of water. It cools you down and is so fun to splash around in the water all day.

14. The sound of rain

Sometimes when it hasn't rained in a while and I'm missing the sound, I look it up on YouTube and close my eyes. Just trust me on this one.

15. A really good book

Reading helps you travel places without ever actually leaving your bed or spending money. It doesn't get much better than that. Grab a good book, get cozy, and get to traveling!

Work out the muscles in your face and smile because there are way more than fifteen reasons to be happy on a daily basis!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
