Things You Think About While Walking Around Campus

As I start my second year of college here at IU, I've noticed that while walking around campus I tend to notice really random things. Not only are you able to realize how beautiful Bloomington's campus is, but you notice the little things. And a lot of days those things are what get you thinking.

If you're anything like me, you head to class with your headphones in and look around while walking. You'll see the people talking to their friends, the kids who are off to a late start to class and are running past you, or the side walk call-out meetings.

Between all of that, I always notice the ways in which people are walking to class; if they're heading to Kelly, or towards the center of campus. But the absolute best is the huffing and puffing of someone who is about to walk into Ballentine, because they know the torture they're about to succumb to (walking up the very poorly ventilated stairs.) It might just be me, but I like to think about what majors people are working towards. But it's pretty easy to decipher who is studying in Kelly or a difference school. Because if you walk around campus on Fridays, you won't see a Kelly kid anywhere close to a backpack.

I am also one to notice the attractive people on campus. Although I will probably never talk to them, I can still dream that I'll go on a date with the cute guy in the Duke shirt.

And I also notice the cute clothing people wear. Half the time I want to ask them where they bought it, but thats creepy so I refrain. A lot of these times I get outfit inspiration, or I think about how comfy I am in my athletic shorts/yogas.

Like any other normal college student, the times I was to class are also times when I think about all that I have to accomplish/complete... Or remember that I forgot to do an assignment that is due in under 10 minutes.

But besides that, the time walking to class is also an amazing time to take in how awesome Btown is. IU's campus is truly beautiful. And it seems like just about everyday I walk through campus, I have a big smile on my face. I love the campus itself, and everything it has to offer.

Although it seems like something everyone does, I really appreciate the scenery that IU has. The campus is truly amazing. But the only time I don't like walking through campus is when the crazy preacher stands outside of Woodburn, and tells us we're all going to hell. Yes, just because I wear yogas, I am officially deemed to hell, you are so right sir.

I could go on and on about everything I think about while at IU, but over all I just truly love it, and think about just about everything and everything during my 15 minute walks to class.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
