High school can be some of the best times of your life — but if I knew in high school what I know now, it would've been much more enjoyable. From the little things that I was clueless about my freshman year all the way to the superiority that I thought I had my senior year, all of these tips are helpful.

1. First and foremost... that senior boy does not like you

I promise he doesn't, so don't listen to him and thank me later.

2. Again, boys aren't worth the drama

...because typically that's all they cause. Staying single would have been so much more fun! Not so I could talk to whoever I wanted, but so I could spend more time with my friends and not worry about what a boy was doing or who he was cheating on me with. Might as well wait until they're mature enough to actually have a relationship!

3. Play sports

I know they're time-consuming, but it builds character and other great traits that are so helpful in the adult world. Not only do they do that, but you'll also be making unforgettable memories with lifelong friends. You'll be in great shape too. It's a win-win! You don't want to graduate having any regrets.

4. That test you failed WON'T matter

It's going to be okay and it'll pass. It won't make a difference in the job you get 1-5 years from now. Don't stress about it too much or stay up too late studying. Your grades matter, but not more than your mental health.

5. Learn how to cut toxic people out early

This will be so helpful later in life. Don't waste your time trying to love or care for people that don't have anything to offer to you.

6. Participate in school activities

I know this isn't easy for everyone, but try your best! Go to football games, cheer with the student section leader (or become the student section leader), join yearbook or the mathletes. Do as much as you can!

7. Be one of the people that goes "all out" for school activities

This goes for spirit week, FFA week, and everything in between.

8. It's totally okay to go talk to the counselor if you're having a bad day

I spent a lot of time in the counselor's office, and it made my life a lot easier. Don't be ashamed, either. It's a tool for you, so you should use it. They can give you helpful advice and help you through the stressful times of high school.

9. Be the friend everyone needs

I know sometimes it's hard, but be there for everyone; while still taking care of yourself of course. I also know that it can be hard to be nice to everyone, but it's worth it in the end. Some people don't have anyone else — so be their someone!

10. Be nice!

Being nice can take you further than you think. Keep secrets, don't talk behind anyone's back, and be that person that everyone wants to be around.

I could go on forever, but this is a good start. Overall, be nice, focus on your grades, take the time to make friends from every clique, and just be you. High school is a time to discover who you truly are — it can definitely be some of the best years of your life. Don't let anyone take that away from you.

Taylor Swift in orange dress playing a moss-covered piano on stage with bright lights.

A three-and-a-half-hour runtime. Nine Eras. Eleven outfit changes. Three surprise songs. Zero breaks. One unforgettable evening. In the past century, no other performer has put on an electric performance quite like Taylor Swift, surpassing her fans ‘wildest dreams’. It is the reason supporters keep coming back to her shows each year. Days later, I’m still in awe of the spectacle ‘Miss Americana’ puts on every few days in a new city. And, like one of Taylor’s exes, has me smiling as I reminisce about the memories of the night we spent together.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.
