Starting college can be nerve-wracking. As an incoming freshman, I didn’t really know what to expect when planning to share a room, half the size of the one I’ve been living in for years, with a girl I’ve never met. I had heard horror stories from friends and family members about terrible roommate situations, so it’s safe to say I had a lot of anxiety coming in. However, having my roommate has been one of the most significant parts of my college experiences so far, and I wouldn’t change a thing. So I just want to say thank you to my roommate:

1. For always being there for me.

Whether I’m standing outside the building asking to be let in, in the library and forgot to bring a book I needed for homework, or desperately craving some Krispy Kreme, you've always been there to help me.

2. For being just as lazy as I am.

I don’t feel as bad that my half of the room looks like a

tornado blew through it, when your side is just as messy too. It’s nice knowing

that when I’m too lazy to do my laundry for three weeks, I’m not alone.

3. For not minding when I come home late.

Sorry for all of the nights I come home after you’ve already gone to bed. I try to be as quiet as possible, but I’m sure I’ve still woken you up.

4. For out spontaneous off-campus trips.

I’ll never forget our random midnight beach (or Walmart) trips or all of our visits to Disney World. These are some of my best memories from college so far, and I’m so happy you helped me make them.

5. For listening to me vent (and venting with me).

When someone’s being annoying, something exciting happened, or I’m just in a mood, you’re always there to talk and listen to me when I have something on my mind.

6. For all the cute pictures we take.

Thanks for being my go-to picture partner and the person most frequently on my Instagram since this school year started.

7. For getting food with me.

Thanks for letting me never have to go to the caf alone, and going back up for dessert with me ♥

8. For all the care packages from my second family.

Shout-out to your family for always sending stuff for me too in your care packages! Special thanks for all the door decorations that makes the room look extra festive.

9. For not waking me up from my naps.

Thanks for putting up with my sleep schedule that has come to resemble that of a nocturnal animal. I wouldn't be functional without my naps, thanks for being quiet while I take them.

10. For supporting me.

Thanks for encouraging me when I'm feeling down, and helping me get through the particularly rough days. On those days when I felt like laying in bed and crying all day, thanks for being there for me.

11. For not making it awkward.

Thanks for allowing me to always feel comfortable in our room. I was nervous about personal space and sharing a room with someone, but we thankfully ended up working really well together. Thanks for always being respectful.

12. For putting up with me for the whole school year.

Not just anyone could put up with me for a whole year. Thanks for all of our memories that we've made this year, I'm so glad we got to room together this year. ❤
