A Thank-You Letter To My Roommates

You are downright psychotic, but I'd be lost without you.

A Thank-You Letter To My Roommates
Hello Giggles

While growing up, I always had a room to myself. I never had to share anything, and was practically spoiled. So when I came to college, I was in for a lot of change. For awhile, I was really nervous about having to share such a small space with another person, how I was going to stay sane, etc. When it turned out that I was actually going to have three roommates instead of one, I nearly passed out. All the worrying went away, though, when I finally met them. Through all the messes, arguments, and cuddling while watching The Bachelor, these girls quickly became the best thing that ever happened to me. This is for you guys, because what would I be doing without you?

Dear roomies,

I was really nervous about going to college. After high school, I downright passed out every time I thought about move in day. Leaving my high school friends, the comfort of my home, my dog...anyway. You helped me more than I can explain. I immediately felt like I was home when I met you. Of course we were still nervous, but it was a hundred times easier not to be alone in the journey. So, I want to thank you.

1. Thank you for hanging out with me in the beginning even when we were complete strangers. God knows my mind was a complete mess before we were friends.

2. Thanks for staying up late to cram on homework with me. Even though it usually just ends with us messing around and getting nothing done, it's the thought that counts.

3. Thank you for sharing your closet with me. I can't count the times I've looked at mine and had the epiphany that I have the worst style in the world.

4. THANK YOU for ordering DP Dough and Jimmy John's with me at 1 a.m. Number six no cucumbers, please.

5. Thanks for downright jamming out with me at midnight when no one else is awake. Those are the nights I'll remember forever.

6. Thank you for going out with me and making sure we all had a blast. I don't think I've ever met someone as hilarious and crazy as you.

7. A sincere thank you for never getting tired of me going on and on about my true love on campus. The amount of times you've had to hear that I'm in love is probably unbearable.

8. Thank you for coming out to my sorority's philanthropy and totally supporting us! It means the world to me that you believe in me and our cause.

9. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU for introducing me to the extraordinary world of One Tree Hill. Oh, my god.

10. Thank you for not complaining whenever I sent you snaps about something that happened on One Tree Hill even though you've already watched it all.

11. Thanks for being all out crazy with me in public. I can honestly say that I am more outgoing and confident because of you.

12. Thank you for being there for me when I'm upset and need to vent. You're mad when I'm mad, you're sad when I'm sad, and you are heartbroken when I'm heartbroken. You don't ask questions when you know I don't want to answer them. You don't push me, but you're always there.

13. Thanks for spending your time out of class with me. The second my lecture ends I'm on Find my Friends totally scoping you out to see where you are.

14. Thank you for taking naps with me, and letting me nap in your bed when you aren't home because we all know yours is so much comfier.

15. Lastly, thank you for being who you are. I know a lot of people don't get so lucky with their roommates, and that's why I feel so incredibly blessed to have you. You made me who I am today. I don't exactly know what I'm going to do next year when we're living in different places, but don't be surprised if you come home to me napping on your couch. I love you more than words can explain. You're my family away from home, and I'll never forget the times we had this year living together. I'm truly blessed to have such crazy people to come home to.

With love,

Your roomie

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
