Things to Remember For An Overwhelmed Heart

Maybe if you’re reading this, you’re looking to be understood. Maybe you’re off at college missing your family, or at home applying to schools anxiously, waiting to hear back. Maybe you’re in a fight with your best friends, or that boy you like doesn’t like you back. Maybe you’re failing a class or two, or trying to figure out who you are and where you belong. Maybe someone close to you passed, or you’re looking for a reason why you’re here, merely existing. Take a moment, and remember, someone else feels exactly how you are feeling right now. They’re sitting in their room, curled up on their bed praying for a change- their out on a walk, looking at the beauty around them, wondering why it won’t clear their head. Wherever you are and whatever your feeling, you’re anything but alone.

You’re loved- way, way more than you know. By a creator we haven’t met face to face yet, who you may not even know yet, loves you and adores you. By your parents, who love you unconditionally through your best and worst, mistakes and all. By your siblings, if you have them- the younger ones look up to you, your older ones will always protect you- your unconditional best friends.

You’re seen. The pain, burden, sadness you’ve been carrying- it’s seen, acknowledged by someone around you. Someone cares, and sometimes you just need to talk. Taking on the burdens of life on your own are pointless- it won’t work. Surround yourself with those who take those burdens, make them their own, and help carry them with you. Find your person, your people, and be their person. Be their people- we feel better when we help others.

There are wonderful things that lie ahead- things we can’t even perceive or aren’t even in our desire at this exact moment in time. There, in your path- you may go through lows to get there, but you’ll have moments that give you a glimpse into the great things that have been set for you. In the hard times, remember the good, and in the good times, completely live in the moment- remember that exact feeling, and it’s what’ll carry you through the bad.

Your life has purpose. Whatever that purpose may be, whatever it is you’re looking for, you’ll find it. It’s there, and at some point in your life, it’ll click. You’ll find reason, meaning, and the purpose for why you are here. People find this in all kinds of ways; God, job’s, clubs, traveling- whatever it may be, chase it with everything you have. If you don’t know what it is at this moment, remember so many others don’t as well- you’re not alone. They’re out there searching for it too. but if you become consumed with finding it, you won’t. It will come to you, so live freely and choose joy- live in the moment, don’t plan your life out, because more than likely it’ll be different than what you plan for.

I hope you felt understood for a minute, or if you come back to read this, you relive that feeling. You’re loved, your seen with a purpose you may or may not know yet, with a wonderful future that lies ahead.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
