Our names define who we are. We can have a family name or named after someone our parents admire. Names can be tricky to spell sometimes. These are the things you know to be true if you have a commonly misspelled name.
It is your biggest pet peeve.
Every time you give someone your name you have to constantly correct the spelling. After doing this for your entire life, you tend to get very annoyed very fast when people need you to spell it over it and over.
You have debated on changing your name.
Because it has become so tedious tohave someone ask how to spell your name or constantly spelling it wrong, you have fought the urge to legally change your name to something more basic and easier to spell.
Your entire family has trouble spelling your name.
Your birthday cards and Christmas presents no longer include names because they do not want to risk spelling your name wrong. Your cousins and siblings have taken a hit by this one because everyone ends up with the wrong presents to avoid spelling one name wrong.
Ordering food is a disaster.

Ordering delivery or getting starbucks has become a battle between you and the person taking the order. Will they spell it right? Will I laugh at how bad they spelt it wrong? You feel the need to correct it but it does not matter because it will just be spelt wrong the next time you order. You have also begun giving fake names to avoid yours being spelled wrong.
Your parents have apologized for your name.
After all this time, they have finally realized that giving you a name that is commonly misspelled was a huge mistake.
You have vowed to give your kids basic names.
You learned your lesson when it came to you. Sure your name is cool or traditionally but is it worth it? No. Your kids will have basic of basic names.
You could never find the right spelling on bracelets or knick-knacks.
All of your siblings get to buy the bracelets or the necklaces with their names on them on vacation and you never got one because you can never find the right spelling.
You have just accepted no one will spell it right.
It has also became so tedious to correct people that you just stopped completely. Kaitlin instead of Caitlin? Sure whatever floats your boat.
