I am now a sophomore in college, and I miss wearing that brown jumper more than ever. To me, going to school every day wasn't dreadful. I actually enjoyed it. Saint Hubert's will always have a special place in my heart.
Sitting by the Lockers in the Morning
All of your friends sat near someone's locker before first period with their iced coffees from Dunkin' Donuts and gossiped. Let's be honest, if Ms. Snowden didn't yell at you and your friends for sitting by the lockers before first period, did you even go to Hubert's?
Homeroom
The perfect place to jam out to a hube tube song while finishing that worksheet you had to do last night.
Taco Salad Day
Don't deny it, once you found out it was taco salad day, you would ditch the pb&j and wait in that long line.
The Faculty
I don't think there was ever a dull moment with the St. Hubert's faculty; they made learning fun. I can still hear Mr. Schafer saying, "Hey, hey, have a good day," and the sight of Mr. Cox popping out his dentures sadly has not left my memory.
Susie Hubert Day
That Wednesday before Thanksgiving was the best day of the whole entire year. Every homeroom competed for the Susie Hubert title. Your homeroom basically started thinking about costume ideas before school even started. Ms. Graf cheering on her homeroom and doing cartwheels was one of the best things I've ever seen.
The Uniform
Now that I'm in college, I have realized I'll never have enough clothes. I miss wearing the same brown jumper, my pale-yellow blouse, and my sweaters with the patches in them. You can't forget about those smelly brown Eastlands that were perfectly broken into by senior year.
Study Hall
You had a study hall clique. Let's be honest, study hall was for making plans for the weekend -- no one really studied.
No Makeup, No Problem
Who was there to impress? Uh, no one. Greasy hair put neatly into a bun and out the door you went.
Prom
Our proms were by far the best. Dancing the night away with your best friends and classmates. The benefit of going to an all-girls school was asking a Judge Boy, and hopefully they took you to their prom also. Two proms in one year, double the fun and looking pretty. If you knew you were going to another prom, you scoped out a prom dress another girl had on hoping they would let you borrow.
Singing the Alma Mater With Your Sisters
The thing I miss the most is being surrounded by my classmates. I miss my homeroom friends, in-school friends, and my best friends. How amazing it was to go to a school where I could count on almost every student in my class. I'd do anything to sing the alma mater with the class of 2014 just one more time.
