You can learn so much about yourself in just a short amount of time.

Being at college is nothing like how I imagined it. I imagined me hating it, always wanting to pay a visit home. I imagined it solely as, “work, work, work, no fun". I honestly did not think I was going to last more than the first semester. Oh, how I was so wrong. Coming to college has honestly been the best thing to ever happen to me. I have learned more about myself in these past short four months, than I have in the past eighteen years of my life.

1) I learned that it's okay to not ask my mom for her opinion on everything I buy, eat, or decide to do. You have to grow up eventually and making your own life decisions, and college is a great time to start.

2) I learned how to break out of my shell. It's totally acceptable to go up to a random group of people and say "hi", it's not weird. Don't fear stupid, silly little things like you did in high school.

3) I learned that it’s perfectly fine to not get all A's. I know it's hard to put in all this work and not the grade you wanted or expected, but that life, and life is hard.

4) I learned that the "Freshman 15" indeed does exist. You could eat a salad almost everyday and still find yourself in the mirror staring at your love handles you swore weren't there when you left home in August. Across campus to the gym you go...for a week…until you get sore and tired of working out. (typical)

5) I learned that I get sick very easily. I don't know what is in the air here, or if my immune system decided to go on vacation while I’ve been here, but I've been sick more times these past few months than I've been in my entire life.

6) I learned that going out every weekend, in fact does get boring. As much as you don't want to admit it, you're sick of going to the same house to party every weekend, and would so much rather sit in your bed watch Netflix and order some Insomnia cookies.

7) I learned to make every moment count. Just in the past four months I watched the time fly by. Don't worry about stupid little things. College is supposed to be all about new experiences, go out and explore with your new friends. Make the next four years matter!

In only my first semester of college I have learned so much. From what I learned in the classroom, to what I learned about myself. I would like to thank all of my new friends I have met, for making these past four months some of the best. The memories made have been unforgettable, and I cannot wait to see what next semester brings!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
