You’re told in high school that you find out who you really are when you’re in college. You never realize that you start to find yourself the first week. After surviving orientation, and your first full week of classes, you realize who you were a week ago when you were packing is completely different as who you are now - doing laundry and making plans for after the football game.
Things that are revealed about yourself in your first week of college:
1. You are very talented and satisfied maintaining a busy schedule.
Everything changes your freshman year. Your schedule may have seemed busy in high school but now that you’re in college you realize you are busier than you ever thought humanly possible - and you love it.
2. You are not an introvert.
Some may not be as extroverted as others but everyone the first week of college is social and eager to make friends. Especially attending a smaller school, anyone and everyone you will encounter your first week will greet you with a smile and a “Hey, how’s it going?” You will make a friend in every single one of your classes, and never have to eat a meal alone again. You may not be the person to just walk into the dorm room across the hall without warning (yes, that does happen), but you will definitely get to know more people than you expected.
3. Professors are cool.
A benefit of going to a small school is that every professor you have will learn your name and what you like to do, and in turn you will do the same for them. To professors in a small school, you are not just one of many students, you are a pupil that they are eager to teach and get to know. You will often see professors out and around campus engaging in resident life.
4. You don't have to meet a significant other in college.
You don’t even realize you aren’t concerned about having a significant other until you have the option and you really aren't interested in dating. You may flirt and be attracted to another person, but your life is so up and popping you aren't interested in getting down with someone.
5. You never want to leave.
You may miss your friends and family and think about going home, but then you look around and realize you love it here and never want to leave. You could never imagine being at any other school.
