Mom – Comforter. Supporter. Lover. Peacemaker. Nurturer. Adviser. Confidante.

You are a superhero, baring many capes, swooping in to save the day every time I have ever needed you – sometimes before I even knew that I did. You are my comfort when my days are long and my adviser when I have no wisdom left. You are my friend when I am in need and you are my confidante when my mind needs rest. You are my constant source of motivation and strength. You have given me one of the most pure, unconditional forms of love I have ever received. I am so lucky to be your daughter.

Thank you. Thank you for simply being the woman that you are and for the woman you raised me to be. Thank you for believing in me when I fail to believe in myself. Thank you for pushing me to be the very best that I can be every single day. Thank you for loving me when I am unlovable. Thank you for teaching me that I am worthy of the love that you have given me. Thank you for all the times that you have dried my tears, even when I was not certain of their source. Thank you for always, always being on my team even when I’m wrong. Thank you for being my biggest fan through every adventure. Thank you for being such an incredible example to me through your unwavering grace. Thank you for your patience, especially when I didn’t deserve it. Thank you for your consistent encouragement through every trial and for never making me face adversity alone. I am thankful to be your daughter.

Your opinion matters to me. Your advice has become the message ingrained upon my heart and instilled in me the pieces of you that I love the most. Your wisdom has been the source of encouragement that has brought me peace through the times when all I needed was to know that someone still believed in me. Your guidance has given me a sense of understanding of who I am and who I am meant to be. Your passion for people has shown me how to love without fear or condition. Your comfort has endlessly reminded me that I am not alone, now or ever. Your honesty has been the light that I need in times when I was uncertain of what to do and where to go. Your kindness has given me a heart for people and allowed me to face each new moment with hope and joy. Your determination has given me the will to pursue my dreams no matter how far-fetched or terrifying they might be. I am blessed to be your daughter.

You have taught me, loved me, laughed with me, cried with me, disciplined me, praised me, and never, ever given up on me; but most importantly, you have been my comforter, nurturer, adviser, confidante, friend and absolutely irreplaceable mother. You are the best friend that I have ever had, and for that I can never thank you enough.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
