10 Signs You're Dating A Musician

Musicians are truly blessings from Heaven above. They create the most beautiful sounds ever to be blessed with our eardrums. Dating a musician is incredible and lucky.

You see another side of them they don't show to everyone, like when they're practicing that really hard piece. You're there to be supportive and to encourage them to never give up because you know how much they love it. These are 10 things you'll only know if you're dating or have once dated a musician.

1. They can make an instrument out of anything.

No seriously, give them a cup and chopsticks and they’ll drum you the best version of eye of the tiger you’ve ever heard.

2. They will play everywhere and anywhere (and they do).

Street performers on your trip to NY? They’ll stop and jam out with them for hours.

3. They get super excited to show you the new song/piece they've been working on.

What’s better than dating a musician? Being able to hear first some of their latest discoveries.

4. You never miss an opportunity to see them perform (or you at least try your best not to).

If they tell you they’re playing a gig outside of town, you find yourself finding coverage for a shift or packing some clothes to head there straight after.

5. You love watching them on stage.

Whether it’s a small gig at a bar or a big crowd at a party, nothing’s better than looking up at them and getting to see them do what they love.

6. You're so proud of everything they accomplish.

You see another side of your significant other when they’re a musician. You see the work they put in, practicing until perfect, and the emotion they put into the final product, you can’t tell people enough how proud you are of them.

7. You're their biggest fan.

If you aren’t your musicians biggest fan, you shouldn’t be with them. They deserve to have someone that not only backs them up on their journey but encourages them to keep pushing for it.

8. You can't help but smile when you listen/watch them play.

I know it isn’t just me, but as they're playing that one song you can feel the smile grow on your face. You really won’t know what I’m talking about until you’ve experienced it

9. You never get sick of them playing.

You could listen all day, everyday. Their passion is incredible. It makes you happy seeing them. The excitement, the struggle, every piece of dating them is an adventure.

10. Dating them is like hearing your favorite song live in concert again and again.

It's a song you never take off repeat. A concert you never want to end.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
