I danced from age 6 to 18. Dance was more than just a sport to me. It became a big piece of my life. If you are a dancer or were ever involved in some sort of dance team, be prepared. You're about to get major flashbacks of your days in tights and tap shoes. How many of these things can you say is or was true during your time as a dancer?
1. "One more time!"
Does NOT actually mean one more time. It actually means 3 or 4 more times. So be prepared.
2. The choreography and songs are stuck with you forever.
Seriously. I remember the song and part of the dance to my first tap performance from 2001!!!
3. Sequins.
That's all.
4. How about those knee drops?
I can't even tell you how many pictures were sent back and forth comparing the bruises from knee drops the night before.
5. 5, 6, 7, 8
Yes, we start counting with the number 5.
6. Two words. Quick Change
How many times have you literally ran off the stage pulling your costume off frantically so you could be back stage again in your new costume with 1/2 dances between your last and next dance?
7. Recital Jitters
No matter how long you've been dancing, you always feel nauseous right before going on stage. What if I forget the dance (that I've done a million+ times)? I'm going to fall. I feel sick. It almost always works out just fine though ;)
8. The best of friends
After so many years of dancing with the same girls, they become more than friends. They become your family.
