7 Things That College Students Want For Christmas

I'm pretty confident that people wouldn't argue with these.

7 Things That College Students Want For Christmas

I took the liberty of asking students around my campus, and in multiple group chats, what they wanted for Christmas. Out of at least 1,000 students, these were the most common answers and they are listed in order of "demand." Granted, it's a small number of people for a university, but I'm pretty confident that people wouldn't argue with most of these.

1. Free Tuition

I mean obviously. I don't even have to go in depth with this one. I can just imagine readers saying "OH MY GOD YES"

2. Money, money, and more money

We're college kids and we're always broke. Between tuition, bills, and necessities, we want some for extracurriculars too! This ranged anywhere from "cold hard cash" to giftcards, and wishing that credit cards didn't have a limit (even though some people already treat credit cards as such anyway).

3. Alcohol

Again, we're college kids. This is obvious. We get booze for ourselves anyway, but do we need to remind you how we're broke? We want to give our bank accounts a rest and have Santa leave some refreshing beverages in our stockings. Thanks in advance mom and dad ;)

4. Electronics

So many people wanted so many different things, so this is just the summary. It went anywhere from the newest phone from Apple and Android alike, laptops, cameras, game consoles, video games, you name it. We live in such a world nowadays that this is always going to be a demand and it's honestly getting kind of sad. Which is ironic because this is a technology based company and I choose to be online basically anytime, so go figure. Skynet will rise eventually. 🤷

5. Clothes

This season, next season, all the seasons! Especially when you live in Oklahoma, you need to be prepared for any type of weather, even in the winter. We manage to have all the seasons within a week all the time because our state can't make up its mind. Sometimes Oklahoma manages to create its own seasons and we don't even know what to do.

Shoes are this category too, because why not?

6. Sleep

Just let us be lazy and sleep. It's not because we don't want to interact with the family (okay, maybe a little bit), it's just because sleep hasn't come over for a visit for a while and we miss it. Let us catch up on sleep and get to know it again. That's all we ask.

7. Bird Scooters

This was a thing on the Oklahoma State campus, as I'm sure it was on a lot of them. But we decided to be stupid with them in many different ways, so they got taken away. We still have Lime scooters around town, but those aren't allowed on campus either--and they're just not the same. WE WANT BIRDS BACK.

Merry Christmas, Happy New Year, and Happy Holidays everyone!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
