Everybody has philosophies that they believe in, whether they know it or not (or whether they've even stopped to think about it). It is important to have a set of core values and know what they are. Knowing what you believe helps you to know who you are as a person. What are 10 things you believe?
1. There is good in everyone.
I know it sounds corny and cliche, but it is very true.
2. Dancing can fix anything.
If you read my last post, you know that I am a fan of getting my groove on! It is the perfect medicine and can shake you out of any funk!
3. It does not matter how long you have known someone -- it matters what their intentions are.
Knowing someone for a long time does not mean anything. You could have known someone since you were a kid, but if their intentions for you are not good, then it does not matter. This is why most people find their best friends in college.
4. Your hardest days are a part of something so much more.
Yes, I know this a line from the song "Where It All Begins" by Hunter Hayes and Lady Antebellum, but, it is so true. A lot of the time it is hard to understand that pain makes you stronger. In the moment, whatever you're going through hurts, but times like that are meant for you to grow.
5. Life is too short not to eat what you want.
Yes, I said it. Now that does not mean to not take care of yourself. Nutrition is very important. But if you have had a long week, and you have been craving a cheeseburger, get a cheeseburger. That does not mean go overboard and eat cheeseburgers every day of the week, but like they say, "Everything in moderation."
6. Write down all your dreams.
Writing down your dreams is very important. I do not know about you all, but whenever I have a dream I always forget it moments after I wake up. Now, whenever I have a dream I try to write it down as fast as possible. Dreams can tell you a lot of things. Most of the time it's our sub-conscious telling us something or confirming something, and it's always nice to go back and look at them.
7. Pray every night.
I love praying, especially at night; it really relaxes me. I talk to God like He is physically next to me. Prayer sometimes scares people because they think that it has to be some grand gesture, but it just a conversation between you and God.
8. Read all types of books.
I love mystery books, and at one point they were the only kind of books I read. Even though I am still a huge fan of mystery books, I love romance and pop culture fiction too. Each genre offers something that the others can not.
9. If you are interested in something, do not just wonder about, but go educate yourself on it.
If I just wondered about the things I like, I would have never found out how much I liked them. This is how I decided on my major. I was interested in fashion, so I immersed myself in it, and loved it even more.
10. Learn another language.
You never know when another language may come in handy.
