19 Things You Should (And Hopefully Don't Already) Know About Me

Oh, and I actually prefer mountains over the beach.

19 Things You Should (And Hopefully Don't Already) Know About Me
Courtney Chapman

School is starting and fall is getting a little closer. There's something about the end of summer that makes new beginnings seem possible again.

So in the spirit of a new semester and new classes and new beginnings, here's me starting over with where I probably should've started with this thing – a classic get-to-know-you article. In honor of recently turning 19, here are 19 fun facts about me!

I go to Texas A&M University.

You probably already knew this. Gig 'em.

I am a Christian.

Really hoping you already knew this one!

My favorite color is yellow.

I'm afraid of dogs.

I love people way more than animals.

I love to read.

Since I know you're wondering, I don't really have a favorite book, but my 10th grade English teacher got me hooked on Charles Dickens and other classics, and when I was younger I was obsessed with Nancy Drew.

I'm an introvert, and didn't realize it until this year.

My celebrity crush will always be Ryan Gosling.

A miscellaneous list of things I just really love: musical theater, coffee shops, snail mail, rainy days, trying new foods and meeting new people.

I'm learning Spanish, and hope to study abroad in a Spanish speaking country and become fluent.

¡ Aprender español es divertido!

I consider my ability to shop at thrift stores and off of clearance racks one of my best talents.

I never thought I would say this one, but I legitimately love working out.

This is my favorite vine right now.

Don't ask why. I don't really know either.

I am a type four on the Enneagram.

Here's a little more information about the Enneagram if you are confused.

I listen to One Direction way too much.

My favorite movie is 'Pretty in Pink'.

This movie also became part of the reason I went by "Pinki" this summer at camp.

I played softball for 12 years.

My go-to meal is a cheeseburger and French fries.

By the way, In-n-Out > Whataburger, end of discussion.

 I'm really clumsy.

Hope you fell in love with this post (haha get it?), and now I'm a little less of a stranger writing stuff on the internet!

beer on the beach

Summer is hot and humid, and it's almost like summer was made specifically to drink the refreshing, cold, crisp wonderful, delicious, nutritious nectar of the gods. Which is none other than beer; wonderful cold beer. With summer playing peek-a-boo around the corner while we finish up this semester, it's time to discuss the only important part of summer. And if you haven't already guessed, it's beer. There are few things I take more seriously than my beer, in order are: sports... and beer. Here are my favorite summer brews:

Bruce Springsteen's Top 7 Lyrics

Everything Bruce says in his classic rock songs.

20277
bruce springsteen album cover born in the usa

Anyone who was born and raised in New Jersey (or anywhere really) knows of Bruce Springsteen, whether or not they like him is a whole other situation. I hope that his hundreds of classic rock songs and famous high energy performances, even in his sixties he can put on better concerts than people half his age, are at least recognizable to people of all ages. Love him or hate him (I identify with the former) you have to admit that some of his songs and interviews have inspirational quotes and lyrics.

New England Summers Are The BEST Summers

Why you should spend your next summer in New England.

Marconi Beach

Three years ago, I chose to attend college in Philadelphia, approximately 360 miles away from my small town in New Hampshire. I have learned many valuable lessons away from home, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time spent in Pennsylvania. One thing that my experience has taught me, however, is that it is absolutely impossible to beat a New England summer.

You cannot beat the beach. Believe it or not (which many people may not), New England has a long and beautiful coastline. Most of my high school summers were spent sitting on the Wall at Hampton Beach, getting sunburnt and eating Acai bowls from The Secret Spot. The Wall was the place to be both during the day and at night. We begin our days there with a KB's bagel and coffee, and end them with pizza and ice cream. It’s not a New England summer without that 4 p.m. text from someone, “Who wants to meet at the Wall tonight?” Nighttime is for Tripoli’s Pizza, the sound of waves, and wishes on shooting stars. Wednesday nights are especially important, as those are the nights that Hampton Beach sets off the weekly firework display.
