This last week was crazy for me. I had to watch my girlfriend suffer pain from a bad concussion that she received early on Monday morning and it changed my whole view of life. Obviously, I knew that she wasn't going to die, but it still made me think about that.
I thought about everything that I take for granted: being in college, having so many good opportunities, but, most importantly, I thought about the beautiful, happy moments in my life. I thought about the moments that make my life worth living.
It isn't skydiving and it isn't traveling, it's being with the one who I love. When we're together, we're always smiling. We always make each other laugh and make each other feel like the best people in the world.
It's when we're just sitting in my apartment and making funny faces at each other or when we're laying outside and taking in the sun. It's these kinds of things that make life worth living. It's when we're reading by the lake or watching a movie together. Those are the moments where I can share my common interests with her.
The last thing, and probably the most important, is when we're just talking. It's when we tell each other how are day was, when we're talking about our favorite books or our favorite movies, or even when we're talking about a place that we want to go to together. These moments are when I really get to know the woman who I love.
For those of you who have a significant other, do not take the time that you spend with them for granted. I never really took that time for granted, but I didn't realize how truly grateful I was for them. Always cherish the moments that you have with the people who you love.
If you don't have a significant other, then I suggest that you stop looking for just a significant other. Instead, look for your true love. You don't have to marry them, but it's still nice to be with them. Find them. When you do, it's the best feeling that you will ever have.
