My Top 5 Overwatch Favorites

The choices may surprise you.

Ah, Overwatch. Some say it's Team Fortress 2 meets League of Legends and that it's an incredible game no matter how you play. Others say it's an all-too-colorful, bore-snore FPS (First-Person Shooter) that only stands on a chance on PC, but even then it's barely worth playing.

Opinions will always abound in both directions; not just for this particular video game, but with, well, everything. But considering the vast number of playable characters in this particular Blizzard title, there has to me something redeemable in some of them, right?

Well, here are my Top 5, a few of the which the gaming community may launch the third degree at me for.

1. Soldier: 76

Overwatch players have heard before that Soldier is just a buffed-up tutorial player, one who may just belong in Call of Duty instead, with a jacked auto-aim Ultimate Ability that resembles more of a "cheap aimbot" and less of a chance to utilize actual skill to turn the tide of a given game. I see the points of criticism here, but also dare players to give him a fair chance.

2. Bastion

Okay, I can't defend this defense Omnic a whole lot in terms of the tidal waves of flak he gets, because sadly, a lot of it is too accurate. ("Bastion needs to get nerfed!" "His turret Configuration is both too weak because of immobile susceptibility and too OP in terms of DPS at the same time!" The list goes on.) However, and remember that this is an opinion piece where I'm just forming a list, I think he's worth playing and adds at least something fun to the current meta.

3. Mei

Ah, yet another player that has been dubbed "cancerous" and "annoyingly aggro Ice Climbers reject" in Overwatch. Besides setting up all-but-impenetrable ice walls, healing herself that, like Bastion, also charges up her Ultimate, freezing enemy players and then shooting high-speed icicles into their heads for eliminations... Nah, actually that's it. Debate it all you want, but I've had a great deal of fun "Mei-ning" Mei... (An Overwatch pun, sorry not sorry.)

4. Zenyatta

Finally, someone who fans hopefully won't immediately berate me for. Zen is just straight-up cool. He's got this robot-monk aesthetic, his Orbs of Harmony and Discord really add well to the course of a game for both teams, and his insta-heal Ultimate, much like Mercy's, can keep allies in the heat of battle when otherwise they have crumpled into the respawn screen. Go Zen!

5. Junkrat

Aaaaaand... we're back to people probably hating on my selections. Never mind, I'm done.

Let's discuss! Do you like Reinhardt more? Zarya? Genji? Tracer? Who will it be? And hey, remember to "Mei-be" pick up Overwatch if you haven't already to find your own character to dominate as.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
