Does it get better?
I will assume that I am not the only one who has been anxious to get back to their university this semester to finally do things right. Although none of us will ever be perfect, I do understand firsthand what it feels like to want perfection only to hit a brick wall of failure and embarrassment time and time again. I for one want Fall 2016 - Spring 2017 to be the best year it can possibly be. Everyone’s college experience is different, but I know I for one am paying a lot of money to attend a beautiful school in South Carolina. I will owe money for a very long time, but I also have a lot to be thankful for. I have a super supportive family who has done the most they could possibly do to see me succeed and to keep me where I want to be.
Looking back, it’s upsetting that I’ve spent so much time thinking about and beating myself up over regrets that I have accumulated. All in all, those negative thoughts did nothing but make me a sad and unmotivated person. Now that I can use my heart and my mind to positively reflect on those emotions and experiences, I know that I want to make a change for the better that will last forever because I know that I never want to be in that dark place again.
It is really all about attitude. I’ve learned how important it is to use each experience as a lesson and a blessing. You went through it for a reason, and now you have the tools and the mindset to take back the control and live your life brand new. Fully let go of all past mistakes, all of the disappointments and strive to make every single day worth it. Look at how lucky you are, you’re back at University, you have a fresh start, and despite whatever circumstances are currently going on in your life, you have some if not all power to make your situation turn itself around. So here’s to wishing you all a bright future, a rewarding semester, and remember you’re never down for good. You can always bounce back.
