The spring semester is finally upon is. A fresh start, new beginning, and second chance to save our G.P.A.s. Last semester, I promised myself that in the spring semester I would do better than I did in the fall, in every sense of the word. Last semester, in the midst of all of my stress and procrastination, I made a list of things that I would do in the new semester. The purpose of the list is to have a positive and healthy mind, body, and soul.
1. Eat Healthier.
Countless late nights filled with Checkers and McDonald's at 2 a.m. have done horrible things to my figure and diet. Though greasy fries hit the spot after long days of hard work and other college “night activities,” they aren’t the best choice. Sure, I am in a state of euphoria when that first fry goes into my mouth, but by the end of the medium size fry, I begin to hate myself.
2. Do assignments when they are assigned.
Last semester, I was the queen of procrastination. Everyone who knew me called me the procrastination queen. This semester, I never want to get to that point when all of my assignments suddenly feel like they are piling up on me. Last year, I was perfectly carefree in the beginning of the semester, then in the last few weeks, all the work I had due began to attack me. I felt like I was drowning and there was no way out.
3. Hang around more positive and goal-oriented people.
You know the saying “Birds of a feather flock together?” Well, this is true when you look at the group of people you hang out with. The people I associated with at the beginning of the semester were not positive and weren’t good friends to be quite frank. A good friend is someone who motivates you to be the best you can be, and I didn’t have friends like that. I had friends that instead preferred to let me go out with them instead of staying in and doing all of my work that was piling up. Toward the end of the semester, I reconnected with some old friends and new, and realized what it meant to actually have friends that motivate you to be the best that you can be.
4. Do more yoga and fitness classes.
My university offers a variety of different fitness classes throughout the week and they are all free (we probably already paid for them somehow). I want to take advantage of these classes and use them as a way to de-stress and exercise
5. Have fun!
This is college, after all, and I am still young. I want to take advantage of being young and carefree a little while longer. These are just a few of the things I wish to accomplish this semester, and I look forward to sharing my experiences and journey with you all as I try to live an overall more positive lifestyle.
