While in high school, I was taking an AP American English class and one of our assignments was to write a short story. Being a high school senior at the time, I waited until the last minute to write the article. At 5:00 AM, I finally finished. Here is what I turned in.

Be aware, this is full of errors and spelling errors and should've never been turned in.

Adventure Time by Ryan Derrick

There were three young men named Ronnie, Cason, and Chip. They were an aventurous, mystical, and hysterical of goofballs. The 3 young men would have a different aventure with a great story about every week or so. Chip was the leader of the group, there was not any demanding or controlling from Chip, but Bonnie, and Cason, insisted that he would be the one who would lead throughout their adventures. The next adventure that they would attempt to conquer was much different from the others, but they never saw it coming until it hit them.

Ronnie, Cason, and Chip live in an parliament together, they do not make a good amount of money because they waste their time trying to have fun and go on adventures. The government is not very hap with them, as they are always behind on their taxes because they are not very educated on how to do them.

Ronnie, Cason, and Chip got up at around eleven o'clock a.m. one day, put on their shorts and t-shirts, and ate one of the only foods that they could afford, which was cheerios for breakfast. Chip decided that today was the day for another adventure! The boys packed up their bags with Dr. Pepper, fruit snacks, cheerios, and their toothbrushes, bringing with them three sleeping bags too, for time to rest and get some sleep. When the time came to leave, the boys grabbed their bags and headed out of the door. When they left the apartment complex, they spotted an IRS agent approaching them, so they decided to run. They lost him when they got around the corner and onto the nearest subway. They were on their way to see what the world had coming for them.

The boys got off of the subway at a sketchy looking place that they have never been to before. There was a small shop with no sign on it that they decided to go into. The shop was crowded with old antiques and strange looking artwork from different cultures from around the world. The boys were pretty scared and creeped out and decided it was time to leave, but before they could get out of the door, and really really really older lady with a high pitched voice walked in and insisted that they stayed. The boys thought the ederly old lady was sweet so they decided to stay and chat for a while and then get back to finding their adventure of the week. The lady introduced herself, her name was Fartsikle and she told the boys that she enjoyed seeing into the other realms of the earth. Ronnie became extremely intrigued by the words of Ms. Fartsikle, almost being put into hypnosis. Chip and Cason were still pretty creped out by the place and the lady, none of it made sense to them and would have liked to get out of there as soon as they got the chance, but Ronnie was so intrigued that he told them he wanted to stay and listen. Ms. Fartsikle brought out a ball, a ball that was clear with a purplish tint to it. When the boys looked at the ball, they saw that it did not have a distinct look to it that made it seem mystical or magical, but they could almost feel the presence of something when she brought the ball into the room. Ronnie, out of pure curiosity, decided that it was a great idea to touch the strange ball. When he did so, Ms. Fartsikle said the words, “Today will not be the day you thought of it to be. poof, poof, poof.”

The moment she said those words, Ronnie was sucked into the clear ball. Chip and Cason screamed out of fear, they ran out of the room, grabbing the ball on the way out. The lady screamed at them telling them to come back, but they were too scared to even think about returning for help. hj,

Chip and Cason ran to an area that looked like a forest. When they thought that they got far away from the area by the shop, they stopped and looked at the ball, examining it and trying to figure out what happened. Cason put his ear up to it and he heard Ronnie’s voice. Ronnie told the boys in a ghostly manner with lengthened syllables, “Help me, guys.”

Chip and Cason went berserk, they did not know what to do. They were thinking about what they could do, then they thought about the lady to see if she had left any clues laying around in her store that they could think about or if she said anything that might break the curse. They didn't realize that they were both holding the ball when they were trying to find out what the lady said by saying it to each other. Kason finally remembered and yelled it as loud as he could, “Today will not be the day you thought of it to be!”

At this moment, Chip realized what was going to happen, so he let go of it, but it was too late. Chip and Cason looked at each other with concern and terror, as they were sucked into the magical ball as well.

When Chip and Cason arrived, they were floating in black space and did not know what to do. They knew their first priority, find Ronnie. Floting around the space of emptiness, they see a light, so they try to swim towards it since it is their only hope of finding anything. When they finally get to the source of light, it ends up being a room. The room is filled with toys of a toddler. They look around the large room, and they spot Ronnie in the corner, distressed and terrified. Chip and Cason told him that everything will be all right and that they need to find a way to get out of the strange realm. They see a ball, one similar to the one that sent them to the strange realm in the first place. All three boys took the ball by their hands and said the key words that would send them back home, but nothing happened. They it was just a bouncy ball. Ronnie did notice something from the time that he was in the room alone. He noticed creasing of a square on the top of the room which was about ten feet tall. So the boys took some of the play stations from the room, stacked on top of each other, climbed up to the ceiling and pushed on the creases. Chip managed to wiggle the plug loose and take off the square covering that covered a door that said the word “EXIT” on it. When Chip opened the hatch, the boys were sucked out of the room and pushed back out of the magical ball trapped them in the first place. When they got out, they ended up back at the shop of the old lady. They ran out of there as quickly as possible and went straight back to the subway. When they got on the subway they decided to go back home and recoup themselves. The boys had a long talk about going on these adventures and made an agreement to go on these adventures less often and focus on getting better jobs.

FIN.

My teacher gave me an 18% on this assignment.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
