The winter season has arrived. Which means you’ve probably switched out all your Summer/Fall clothes and brought out the endless hoodies, sweaters, fleece sweatpants, hats, scarves, and gloves. Everything you need to prepare yourself for the cold weather. But like every season, there seems to be a pattern that builds up. It could be a wide-range of things. Whether it’s complaining about the whether or being bored at home because you can’t go anywhere due to the weather. All in all, we tend to blame the winter season for a lot of things.

The Freezing Cold

Every winter season, you’re bound to hear the words

“It’s so cold!” or “Jeez! It’s brick out!”

Umm…. in case you forgot it’s winter. What’d you expect sunshine and rainbows?

Blistering Winds

Wind so strong it nearly blew you away huh? All in all winter time isn’t all that bad. If you subtract the blasting wind if your face it’s fine.

Snowstorms

Do I really have to explain this one? I mean it’s wintertime. During winter it snows. Chances are it’ll snow a lot. Stop complaining you hate the snow. The more crap you talk about the snow, the more you’ll get.

Slippery Ice

Probably the worst part of winter. Slipping on ice is no joke and pretty painful. Embarrassing too if I may add because if you’re with your friends they won’t wait a single moment to laugh at you. But I should warn you. There’s a curse to laughing at people to slip on ice. If you laugh at your friend or someone that slipped and fell on the ice. Soon enough you’re going to slip and fall too because you decided it would be okay to laugh at your friend/someone who fell, So don’t laugh!

Then there are the most common things you hear from people during the wintertime or about winter in general. Which you can either agree on or just straight up bug you.

“Winter Is My Favorite Season”

Okay fine. I admit this is probably me. I’m not saying I like the cold. I feel like a lot goes on during the winter season. And you may not realize but there’s quite a lot you can do as well. You just have to be open-minded.

“I’m A Winter Baby"

To those whose favorite season is winter and their only reasoning is because they were born in the winter, is not a good enough. End of discussion.

“It’s Going To Snow…. Again"

Haven’t we been through this already? It’s winter!

“Why Is It So Cold!”

The dumbest rhetorical question ever to ask during winter. But we're all guilty of it.

While many tend to complain about the winter time. You forget how many times it probably made you happy. Or why the winter time can be great.

Snowball Fights

Nothing beats heading out with your friends for a little cold fun.

Snow Tubing/Sledding

If you haven’t tried any of these during the winter or have gone to an area where they have these activities. You are truly missing out on the winter fun.

And lastly, probably the best one of all……

Don’t lie when you say you don’t wake up a little early to watch the news to see the list of school cancellations or check your school email to see if there’s any update the morning after a snowstorm.

Let’s be real. Wintertime is awesome. It falls around the most wonderful time of the year. So much goes on during the winter. You have the holidays, the end of the semester, snowfall and much more. The winter season is a great season. So stop hating and start appreciating what winter has done for you. Otherwise, you’ll slip and fall.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
