Wedding hash tags have become a phenomenon recently, but no one seems to be talking about them. Where did they come from? Why are they so crucial to everyone's big day? Who makes them? Why are they everywhere?
If you are not up to date on the latest Instagram trends, you might not even know what a "wedding hashtag" is. A wedding hashtag is a saying that comes after a #, given to guests by the bride or groom. By hashtag-ing this common saying, guests will be able to link their photos. If one searches for the specific hashtag, all pictures with the corresponding hashtags will show up. This is a fun, effective way to link all guests' pictures together, pictures the bride and groom would have otherwise not seen. They also incorporate a funny saying, along with the new last name the couple will share.
But, it seems to me that wedding hashtags have taken on a new life. Recently, wedding hashtags have become a competition to see who is the punniest. And I'm just saying that everyone needs to chill with these wedding hashtags. I feel as if couples believe that somehow their entire marriage comes down to the success of their wedding hashtag. Also, if emphasis on wedding hashtag importance continues to escalate at this rate, who knows what or how long weddings' hashtags will be in the future, or what this world might come to? I may seem like I am being a little dramatic, but let's be serious people, focus on something that really matters. Like, the cake.
I will admit though, wedding hashtags are pretty punny. Here are a few of my favorites:
#foreveryounge
#tohaveandtoholton
#letsgetrauchy
#onehaleofawedding
(italicized words are last names)
