Funsized, small, little, and tiny are just a few of the names short people are called. Being short isn't always a bad thing, but then again we struggle with day-to-day things that average sized or really tall people can do just fine. Here are several of the many struggles that we have to deal with:
Regular pants don't fit right
This may be the case for most short people, but I know in my case, whenever I buy regular jeans I have to role the ends so they aren't all bunched up. This is not something I want to deal with everyday! But...to whoever invented short length jeans, THANK YOU! Now short length jeans are all I wear.
Everything is stored up high
Whether it's the cleaning supplies to clean your room, or that one snack you're just craving, things like these are stored up in the highest shelves or cupboards. Just our luck right? Now, we can't carry a ladder or stool around with us everywhere we go, but we use our resources. For me personally, I like using a chair, even though a chair still may not be tall enough, it is the easiest object to move around.
Your age doesn't match your height
Being short also comes with the gift of not looking your age. It's great...NOT. Whenever I go out, whether it be the casino, or literally just the regular movie theater, my ID either gets checked five times, or I'm asked if I want the children's 3D glasses at the movies. I've come to realize, I will always look three years younger than the age I actually am, there's no way to fix that.
Driving...that's all I'm saying
Driving is a struggle, let's be honest. Moving the seat all the way forward, steering wheel almost hitting your chest, and raising the seat just so you can see, is just what us short people have to deal with whenever we get into a car that isn't ours. And to top it off, people think you belong in a car seat. "Where are the phonebook?" "Look Al! It's your carseat!"
Can I ride this ride or not?
Amusement park rides are always the make or break of being short. Though the standing sign of measurement doesn't look that high, when I stand next to some of them, I barley make it. How embarrassing is that?! We short people do not want to be stuck on the caterpillar ride the rest of our lives; I know I don't!
Though this seems to be mostly "downs" of being short, there may be a few "ups." Being short myself, I've embraced the fact that I will always be short, and there is nothing I can do about it. So, to my short friends, I feel your pain.
