The Ultimate Senior Year Bucket List

We're not done just yet...

The Ultimate Senior Year Bucket List
Courtney Justice

As we get down to the last few days of my final semester, there are many emotions I have flying around. Mostly I'm feeling somewhere between apathetic and panicked, so I've decided to create a list. Not a list of "How do I get a job" or "Realistic ways to start paying off school loans," but something less practical and more fun - a Senior Year Bucket List.

Simple as that, I'd like to share my list of things I want to accomplish in Grove City, PA before I pack up and head off to the "real world" with you. Hopefully this can inspire you to make the most of your final days as a student as well.

1. Skip a full day of class to do nothing but watch movies (you won't be able to skip work just for funsies, so do it while you still can).

2. Go on a spontaneous road trip somewhere close by and possibly skip class to do so.

3. Eat nothing but pizza for four days straight (because what other time will this be acceptable outside of college?).

4. Wear your PJs to class for a whole week (again, your boss probably won't let you show up at work in PJs, so why not now?).

5. Get super dressed up with all your friends and go to McDonald's for the classiest fast food meal you've ever had.

6. Write a note to your favorite professors telling them how much you appreciate them.

7. Search for restaurants, stores, movies, etc. that have student discounts and use ALL OF THEM (because soon your ID won't matter).

8. Go into every building on campus and leave a small note somewhere for someone to find.

9. Go out every night for a full week (even if it's just for pie at 3 a.m., no judgment).

10. Do something really nice for a complete stranger.

My freshman year was rough, and one day I was sitting outside by myself just kind of loathing, stressing and being a freshman, when suddenly some guy came up to me with a Reese's. He said, "Hey, I know you don't know me, but I saw you earlier and you looked upset, so I went and got you this Reese's. If you need anything, just know I'm praying for you and whatever's going on, it's going to be okay." That was an experience I will truly cherish because it was so great to experience random kindness.

Anyways, good luck crossing each of these off your lists in the next few weeks. Best of luck as the end of the semester approaches!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
