As we mature, we begin to realize that friendships differ, and the things we receive from different types of friendships differ. We all have friendship 'roles' that need to be filled in our lives, and it takes a multitude of women to fill those 'roles.' These women consequently help shape us into the women that we are and later become, as well as keep us grounded on our journey there. Each friend is equally important, however the roles they play in our lives differ greatly.
The sensible and motherly friend.
This is the friend that reminds you to stay honest, and stay humble. She takes care of you when you get your heartbroken, is the one holding your hair when you've taken one too many shots at quarter night (and is probably your DD), reminds you to take care of yourself, and never forgets your birthday. If you say your hungry around her, she will probably make or buy you food. She keeps you grounded in life, and you don't know what you'd do with out her.
The outspoken and 'real' friend.
This friend does not care about your feelings when you are in desperate need of a reality check. She is fierce, confident, doesn't take sh*t from anyone, and refuses to let you do anything less than this yourself. She reminds you to stick up for yourself, tells you when it's time to kick that toxic relationship to the curb, and she reminds you that it's okay to be a little selfish sometimes. This friend is usually down for anything when you need a pick-me-up, as well. If you need a margarita night or go out own the town and shake what your momma gave you, she's your go-to.
The secret keeper.
This is the friend that you know you could trust with your deepest, darkest secrets. You trust this woman with your life, and never once have had to question where her loyalty lays. She's most likely the most honest person you've ever been friends with, and her innocence inspires you to be a better you. She may not have a lot to say, but she always has an open ear and kind-hearted words of encouragement. Your favorite times together are probably just a girls night in -- movies, junk food and lots of chit-chat. She gets you on a level that no one else does, and you're forever grateful for her.
The 'at work' friend.
You're total opposites, but it works in the most beautiful way. She's the Ying to your Yang. Shifts are less miserable when you're scheduled together and usually filled with many laughs. You guys may not hang out a lot outside of your workplace, but since you both practically live it work, that's OK -- you see her regularly anyway. This friend may be your 'work friend,' but she know's everything there is to know about your life outside of work. Gossiping to each other about your lives is your favorite way to make the time pass at work together. She's your favorite person to receive advice from, and get an outside perspective. This friend is appreciated much more than she knows!
The "we go way back" friend.
You grew up together, or basically did, and no matter how far you drift apart from each other, you always find a way back to each other. Your connection to each other is so powerful that, no matter how long you go without seeing each other, you act as if you've never left each others side since the last time you saw them. Nothing ever changes with them, and that's part of what you love about them; consistency. No matter how the two of you change individually, your friendship remains the same and is untouched by time or maturity. She's your most cherished friend, and holds a special place in your heart that cannot be replaced by anyone.
The new-but-instantly-became-your-bestfriend friend.
This is the friend that you met on a whim, but instantaneously hit it off. You don't know how you have survived with out her until now. She makes you laugh until you cry, is friends with you for who are in this moment, gives you a clean slated friendship, and reminds you that new friendships aren't always that scary. Sometimes things just click, it's not forced, and a stranger becomes your best friend. The friendship is untarnished, and beautiful -- just like her.
Each girl is important to you, each girl plays a different but equally as vital role in your life, and you love each of these girls with every centimeter of your soul. They're you're backbone, and the life-line to this crazy chaotic journey you call life.
