The Truths Of Coming From A Big Family

If you have grown up in a big family, consider yourself blessed. You have been given one of the world's best gifts, people that will love you unconditionally. Holidays, birthdays and family vacations are nothing short of a great time. Here is a list of things you can relate to if you have a big family:

1. If you are one of the kids, you will always remain a kid.

Good luck moving up to the adult table, because you have a permanent seat at the kid's table.

2. When you go on a family vacation, everybody will eventually know you and consider you as being "one of them."

If your family is anything like mine, they will have the entire cruise ship prepared for anything, especially when you find yourself meeting up with the rest of your family in the cruise infirmary, or winning "Finish the Lyrics."

3. Each holiday party seems to get louder each year.

Louder by year or by hour, I mean that's the same idea, right? As more and more people show up, it can be hard to even hear yourself think while everyone is talking and laughing.

4. If you bring a friend to a family gathering, they are automatically part of the family.

Who wouldn't want to be a part of your wonderful family?

5. You are comfortable being in large crowds and loud places.

I think that just described my family's Christmas party...

6. Somehow, there is always a ton of food (and alcohol).

If you go home hungry, you did something wrong, because there is a good chance that you could have fed a small country with the amount of food at any family party.

7. Games are always played.

Whether it is Pie Face or having a snowball fight outside, you have to be the best and beat everyone else

8. You bond with your cousins after talking about all of the stupid decisions you have both made.

What's a GPA? ...but at least college is fun!

9. If you do something embarrassing, your family will always be there to remind you about it.

Good luck forgetting about that time you ...

10. You find ways to match your cousins.

Just like brothers and sisters, you will find ways to make sure that other people know you are related.

11. You couldn't imagine having a small family.

That just sounds sad and boring. How are you supposed to entertain yourself without 30+ of your favorite people?

12. You wouldn't want to trade your big family for the world.

After all, family is one of life's greatest blessings.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
