In the Generation of open-minded and confident individuals, singularity and grouping are less than common. Despite this, there is at least one thing that brings generation Y together -- music. We no longer use the terms "that artist sucks" or "their music is terrible." We are much more accepting of each other’s tastes, and it isn't commonly expressed as bad anymore. When really good music arises, nary a bad word is spread, but this music is still fairly difficult to find. Luckily, I have gone out and found it for you. Here are the top 5 hidden artists of recent.

LIGHTS

If you desire a high-pitched yet soothing voice, LIGHTS is for you. This new-era pop artist not only sounds phenomenal, but she looks the part too. Her sophomore album, "Siberia," debuted in 2011 and brought her most popular and ever growing tracks "Up We Go" and "Heavy Rope" into the modern pop mix. The versatility of her voice allows her to keep up with an EDM-style beat with a 2000s flair or take it slow with an acoustic ballad and everything in-between.

Marc. E. Bassy

Starting as a music producer for artists like 2 Chainz, Wiz Khalifa, and Chris Brown, Bassy made his own personal impact in late 2015 with the introduction of his sophomore album "East Hollywood" and his spring of 2016 single "You & Me," which peaked at number three on The Billboard Hip Hop Top 100, but still hasn’t given him the recognition he deserves. "Groovy People," his newest album dropped in early August of 2016, contains only five tracks, yet each one tells a different story of the same era, wherein the woman of his dreams has overwhelmed him once more. His sharp yet soul-gripping voice entices one to listen ever so more, and his self-written lyrics tell stories of his lost love and past hardships.

Blackbear

Fresh off of his tour with Hoodie Allen, Blackbear struck genius in every track he's had since early 2015. His Sophomore album, "Deadroses," peaked at number 20 on Billboard’s Top 100 Albums in February of 2015, and he has since only been successful. Blackbear teamed up with Hoodie Allen and recorded two tracks, "Surprise Party" and "Champagne and Pools," both of which were wildly successful on Hoodies’ graduated album "Happy Camper." Blackbear’s raspy and coagulating voice draws attention, and although not as vocally talented as the previous two, his lyrical genius only furthers his success.

E-Dubble

The only true rapper of the group, E-Dubble is a Baltimore-based emotion rapper. Since his first songs featured on his YouTube series "Freestyle Friday," Dubs has been spittin' bars about his hardships, his acute anxiety and depression, and how he overcame these through his music. He mostly practices and preaches the personality of the "Two-Tone Rebel," stating how he believes things are not and do not play out just one way or another, but rather are laid across a grayscale of sorts. His next album, "Two Tone Rebel," has a largely anticipated release despite having put out nine singles since his last album dropped. His most popular track, "Changed my Mind," was featured in the 2016 Tom Clancy video game "The Division," gaining him much critical acclaim and recognition.

Jon Bellion

Long Islander Jon Bellion has been much more mainstream than you would even believe. Bellion started as a music producer, creating tracks for the likes of Cee Lo Green, Jason Derulo, Eminem and B.o.B., among many others. He began his own music career in 2011 with his first mixtape, "Scattered Thoughts Vol. 1." His third official mixtape, "The Definition," sparked his first national tour, selling out small venues across the nation. His Debut album, "The Human Condition," reached number five on the Billboard 200 on June 10, 2016, giving him the recognition to reach his dream of a potential film by Disney Pixar. His genre, for lack of an actual term, would most accurately be "hip-pop-rap-n' B." His enchanting beats, mixed entirely by him from a beat pad in his New York recording studio, sets a tone only his voice can follow. Singing about his fortunes and misfortunes, love life and his complex, crazy mind is truly something worth recognition during a time period where talent like his is so very rare.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
