Okay Society, let's have a serious talk.
The presidential election is around the corner and you need to go vote. I am not going to sit here behind my computer screen and complain about how awful Trump is or how awful Hillary is. My opinions are personal and I will keep them that way unless you care enough to ask. What I am going to do though is urge you to go vote! Don't sit and complain and judge but then not vote! Voting is important and it's your right. If you want change you have to make it.
The next and most important thing I must address is the fact that we all need to stop being so self-centered. I'm sure most of us are looking at this election as how is it going to benefit us and just us. I want you to take a second to think about your children, future children, future grandchildren and so forth. The decisions you make today can be the change that needs to be made to make this world a better place for them. For once in your life think a little bit past yourself. We won't be here much longer. I think it is safe to say that we can handle a little bit of suffering for some change for the future generations. Live for the future and have an open mind.
To break it down even further than that, let me talk in terms of which most young people will understand. Say, for example, you get recruited or join a club, orchestra or a sports team in college that doesn't have the best winning record and is actually known to be pretty bad. Well you have just been recruited or joined under a new coach or director. The director/coach tells you he or she is in the process of rebuilding the program to make it better and you are the first class of the process. That's kind of what America is like right now. We are the generation that has to sit and endure the change to make it a greater country for the future generations. Just like in that organization, you eventually graduate in four years and leave. But when you leave, the program is much better than it was when you started.
Do not be ignorant, and naive to the changing world around you. Do not live in the past, but do not live in the unrealistic future either. Go out and vote for someone you believe is going to make a good change in making America go forward and not pull us back. So whether that be Hillary, Trump, Stein, anyone, just make sure you are doing this for more than just yourself.
Everyone in this world matters. We are all here together, instead of butting heads, try to work together to create something beautiful for our children. I don't want to grow up and fear for the life of my children because I don't know if they will make it home safe that day, just because of the color of their skin, hair, their sexual orientation or religion. Something we all do have in common is we are all human, made and born in the same. Do one favor for yourself and each other and make a change instead of hoping for it.
It is 2016, there is no going backwards, as much as some of us might like that, only forward is an option. Make the best of what you are presented with. Work with what you have. "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade." The best quote to ever cross the face of this Earth, still standing true.
