As hard as it is to believe, it is almost that time again to whip out name tags, plan coordinated outfits, and scream until you lose your voice. Thats right! It is almost time for sorority recruitment. For a Potential New Member, recruitment can go one of two ways. You can either be nervous the entire time, unsure if the process is going to work for you or nervous to have forced conversations with girls you want to impress. OR, you see sorority recruitment as the time in your life where you get to meet the people who might end up being your bridesmaids.
Recruitment isn't only nerve-wracking for the PNM's; the girls in each of the sororities are nervous as well. It is scary to make conversations with people at such a formal event, especially when the conversations are encouraged to follow certain bullet points. The recruitment process is fairly similar no matter where you go to school, so at least you can feel confident in knowing that there are thousands of girls feeling just as awkward as you. One thing is for sure: we have all thought the following things at one time or another during our recruitment process.
*When the doors open* Oh crap! Here we go! SMILE!
Why are these girls singing and/or screaming in my face?
Hi. My name is ______. My major is __________. I live in ________ Hall.
Thank goodness you just mentioned food. Now I feel comfortable talking about how many slices of pizza I ate last night.
OH WOW! You spent your summer hiking? *I have nothing to relate to hiking*
*My heels hurt so badly*
It's so hot in here. I hope she can't tell that I'm sweating. CAN A GIRL GET SOME AIR IN HERE?
Yay, another video about how they all love each other!
And now we are just staring at each other. Say something, anything. Please.

This party is over so soon?
I loved them. I hope they like me.
And then the greatest day of your life happens, and you realize that all the nerves were for nothing. You can finally call these girls your sisters.
