The Tale Of How Neighbors Became Sisters
Sydney Kadinger

Once upon a time,

In the suburban kingdom of Carmelot Indiana there lived a bossy, blonde five year old princess named Sydney. She lived her days playing with her younger sister, to which she was content, but she longed for a friend her own age. She wished to the stars every night "Please send me a best friend that I can have forever." She would wish every night until one day, there was a knock at the door! To her excitement it was another girl who just moved in two castles down. Her name was Joanna; she just moved here from the far away land of the Philippines! From that moment on they became best friends!

Together they were the perfect pair.

They would pretend to be store owners, teachers, news reporters and game show contestants...

Celebrate birthdays, Christmas, and of course, Halloween together.

They would write books, make board games, and put on plays...

Terrorize the kingdom of Carmelot...

As the greatest of friends...

Until one day....

There was an evil spell put on the two princesses that separated them, creating a war and forced them to go their separate ways.

Princess Joanna became one of the most beloved girls in all of their suburban land. She was beautiful, social and loved by many citizens of Carmelot. She blossomed and lived her life full of smiles and adventure.

Princess Sydney was really affected by the spell. Not just because she decided to dye her bangs pink...

but because she had given up on having close friendships. She was content with herself, her studies, and having acquaintances in her classes. She believed she wasn't meant to have friends that stuck around; to have best friends.

This spell lasted for many years until she left the kingdom of Carmelot, and decided to seek the heights, and joined the fraternal order of Alpha Chi Omega.

Here, Princess Sydney, was introduced to strong, intelligent, caring women that she adored. She lived her days loving life in the Kingdom of Nap-town at Castle 925 with her four best friends, then traveled every weekend to let her lyre send forth the chords of love, unselfishness, sincerity.

She would think about Princess Joanna, and the times they had, missing the bond that was lost.

Then one day...

Princess Sydney received a message of a new member joining Alpha Chi; she couldn't believe the name that was on the invitation.

Princess Joanna.

Immediately she rushed to write to Joanna, to see if it was really true. It was! They would be reunited as sisters after being apart for many years! They met, and it felt like old times. They laughed a lot, about old memories they shared. They caught up, on memories they missed. They connected again and the spell was broken! They began their journey to restore faith, love and trust in each other, all because of Alpha Chi Omega.

I am truly grateful for Alpha Chi, not only because of the beautiful woman it is helping me become, but because it brought this beautiful woman, and plenty of new ones back into my life.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
