The refugee situation in Syria has affected many, internationally displacing over 6.1 Syrians. As Christians, it is our duty and moral obligations to pray for Syria. As I began researching Syrian Civil war and the concerns when it comes to helping Syria, I was reminded of something important. Those 6.1 Million Refugees are in the hardest season of their lives, without a home, and without Jesus Christ. If we truly love Jesus and want to follow his commands, we are to love Syria.

That being said, I am not sure the way, the absolute solution, and honestly don't believe there is one parachute solution. Part of solving a catastrophic event, is time and a heart to serve where needed. However, I do know that seeing people, realizing that the numbers are not just statistics but stories, sparks an ambition to do something about injustice.

Here are 10 reasons we should love Syria and her People.

1. Syrian lives have been shattered.

"While Every Refugee's story is different and their anguish personal, they all share a common thread of uncommon courage - the courage not only to survive but to persevere and rebuke their shattered lives." - Antonio Guterres, U.N. High Commissioner of Refugees

2. The refugee camps are not comfortable living; they are a temporary solution.

3. All the words in the world cannot fix the broken families; only action does that.

"Declarations and good intentions do not feed the starving and they do not shelter refugees. The harmful consequences of such a situation risk having very profound impacts on Syrian society, as well as on neighboring countries." -Salam Kawakibi, a Syrian Political Scientist.

4. Children are forced to flee education - a basic right.

5. Children and parents are running for their lives.

6. The water is safer than the land.

7. Syrian people want to work for change.

8. Mothers fear for their babies' lives.

9. They have no home and no Jesus.

There is one math that matters - 6.1 million people, many of which are unsaved, in need of help. That means providing in the best way we know how. Whether that be through aid, money, prayers, education, welcoming in asylum seekers and refugees, we are to do it because if we love humanity, we want to give the good news. 10. God commands us to.

“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” - John 13:34-35

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
